Chapter Six

AJ led Donna out to his truck and she got in on the passenger's side. Whenever AJ got in, he just sat there.

"Well, are we going anywhere?"Donna asked looking at AJ waiting for him to start the truck.Instead AJ sat looking forward for a minute and finally looked over at Donna.

"Donna, I want to talk to you about something." AJ said turning in the seat so he was facing her better.

"Sure, AJ, what's up?"Donna asked interested.

"Ok."He said making a nervous sigh. "Well, I don't know how to say this. I know you and I have been friends since we can remember."He began. She nodded in agreement. "Well. These last few days, I've grown closer to you than a friend." He said looking to see her reaction.

Donna sat still for a minute without a facial expression. Finally she realised that her best friend had just confessed he had feelings for her. What did she feel? AJ was getting nervos, and a uneasy quietness was settling.

Finally Donna broke it. "Well AJ." She began. "I-its..I don't know how to respond to that."She said quietly. AJ sat motionless. Without thinking he just reacted. He leaned over and kissed her. He had been wanting to do it since he saw her sitting down.

He didn't tell Donna, but whenever he saw her at the audition that day, he knew it was her. He saw her walk up to the woman that day. He would recognise her smile any day. He had always had feelings for Donna. Not just since they had been reunited but whenever they were younger.

Donna didn't resist the kiss. She just let it happen. Soon AJ pulled away hoping that she would feel the same way she did after the kiss. Donna opened her eyes and saw AJ with pleading eyes accross from her.

"AJ..I..I'm sorry I just can't."She said tearing up and jumping out of the truck. AJ jumped out the other side.

"Donna wait!"AJ yelled running to her. She was accross the parkind lot sitting on a bench crying. AJ slowed down and walked up to her. He sat down beside her.

"Donna I'm sorry. I shouldn't have done that. It's my fault, I should have known you wouldn't have felt the same way."AJ said trying to calm her. Donna stopped crying and sat back looking at AJ.

"AJ, it's not you. I do have feelings for you. I just don't want to end our friendship. What happens if we have a fight. I don't know if I could take losing you."Donna said lightly.

"Donna. You know I would never hurt you...in friendship or anything more."He said wrapping his arms around her. Donna sat and thought for a minute. She had never had a serious relationship with anyone mainly because of her busy schedule. Right then she had a great guy.

She thought back to all the times that they had been there for each other. All the nights she had to spend away from the screaming at home...he was there for her.She did know he would treat her right, and would be the best thing for her. Finally without any hesitation again, she turned and kissed AJ the same he had done to her. It almost shocked AJ, but he overcame the shock soon returned the kiss. After a moment it ended and Donna rested her head on his shoulder.

"So what does this mean?" AJ asked smiling at her. She grinned back.

"I guess we can give it a try."She said winking.

As AJ and Donna sat on the bench, AJ noticed Howie and Donna leaving the restaraunt. Howie glanced around and saw AJ. From across the parking lot, AJ could see Howie smile and wink. AJ knew exactly why, because AJ had preplanned this whole thing the night before.

"So baby, would you like to go somewhere?"AJ asked looking down at Donna. He had always hoped for this moment. It had taken everything inside of him to hold it in for the few weeks that she had still been down. AJ thought back to the promise they had made to each other whenever Donna AJ had first started the Backstreet Boys. Whenever I'm famous, you'll go on tour with me, and we'll always be together. The old memory brought a smile to his face.

"What?"Donna asked catching his smile.

"Nothing. Come on."He said getting up and lending a hand to help her up. They walked hugging each other to the truck.

Donna didn't know why, but in those few minutes, everything in her life seemed to change. She felt like it was for the better, but she knew things would never be the same, bad or good.

"Yeah Mom. Next week. Yes. Ok, I love you too. Yes. Mom I need to go. Alright,I love you too. Mom..mom..bye. Ok.Bye."Donna said hanging the phone up.

"Nice conversation."AJ said laughing sitting on his couch. It was two weeks later, and the tour was set to kick off one week in New York. Donna looked over at AJ and threw a pillow hitting him directly in the face. AJ just sat smiling. His glasses were now crooked, and his hat was a little farther up.

"Thats a good look for ya."She said joking. AJ quickly fixed it.

"Hey, don't mess with the style."AJ said joking with a snoody sounding voice. Donna quickly grabbed his white Nike hat and put it on her own head. AJs hair was short and lightly frosted.

Donna sat down beside AJ and he put his arm around her. He kissed the top of her head and breathed in the smell of Herbel Essence. He loved being with her as a couple. Being her friend was one thing, but her boyfriend had better advantages, if you know what I mean.

"You exited about the tour?"AJ asked looking at her.

"Of course. Ya know, it's a good thing I'm going on tour with you, otherwise, I wouldn't know for sure if you were or weren't cheating on me."Donna said elbowing him lightly.

"Baby, you know I wouldn't do that. Especially to you."He said.Donna laughed at the last part of the comment.

"Especially to me? I hope you've never done it to any of your previous girlfriends."She said scooting to the opposite side of the couch. AJ laughed and scooted back up next to her.

"So, what do you want to do?"AJ asked squeezing her into a hug.

"Breath"She mockingly choked out. AJ let up a little on the hug. "Hmm. Well let's see. What do you want to do?"Donna asked not being able to come up with something. As soon as she looked at AJ she knew what he was thinking.

He had an evil grin on his face. Donna laughed. The two hadn't gone that far yet.(Ha ha, I tricked u earlier, you thought when I was talking about advantages i meant sex..guess you were wrong!)

"AJ, when I think we're ready to take that step we will." She said patting his leg. He poked his lip out giving her a puppy dog look. She smiled and kissed him to make up for it. Soon they were layed out on the couch making out, nothing more.

"Come on AJ, your hair looks fine."Donna said laughing trying to pull AJ away from his mirror. They were getting to go out with everyone. It was two nights before the tour was set to begin, and the next day they had a plane flight straight to New York.

"I just want to look sexy as usual."AJ said grabbing and pulling her close.

She laughed "Am I not the one who is suppose to take longer to get ready?"

"Alright, I'm ready." He sighed grabbing a pair of styling light purple shades. Donna had on a short red dress and AJ had on a red undershirt with a black styling sports jacket along with black slacks. Everyone was going to dinner and then clubbing.

AJ stood back as Donna walked to the door of the bedroom. She turned and saw him stairing, and where he was stairing.

"Don't gauke."She said laughing.

"Damn baby, you sure did grow up to have a killer figure." He said smiling and winking at her.

"Thanks, now come on." She said grabbing him and pulling him to the door.
