When I first heard about Glacier National Park, at the age of nineteen, I determined that one day I would go there.

Jump ahead thirty years to July 2004. I rented a Nissan minivan and drove from St. Petersburg, Florida to Glacier Park
in northwest Montana for ten days of wonder and awe.

For shooting 2D photos I took along my trusty ol' Pentax K1000 film camera and a brand new Nikon Coolpix 8700
digital camera. For 3D photography I had my mid 1950s vintage TDC Stereo Vivid, best for near to mid distnace
shots, and a homemade rig with twin Nikon N60 film cameras mounted side by side on an aluminum and wood bar.
The twin rig was best for full frame landscapes. Unfortunately the Coolpix had a faulty CCD chip and failed on my
first day in Glacier but I had more than enough slide film to take all the pictures I could snap during my ten day stay
in the park.

On my way to Glacier I made unplanned detours to the Corn Palace in Mitchell, South Dakota and to Mount
Rushmore near Keystone, South Dakota. On the trip home I made a side trip to Devils Tower in Wyoming.

In three weeks of driving I put 8,200 miles on that minivan. Thanks, Hertz, for your unlimited mileage policy!
