"Zac, honey... it's time to go" Mrs. Hanson said, poking her head around the door of the boy's room. Zac nodded and got up from his bed. He hadn't said a word since C.J's death. That was a week ago. Zac still couldn't believe she was gone. A few time's he had picked up the phone to call her but then he would remember, she wouldn't be there. He walked past his mother and she rested her hand on his shoulder. Zac just shrugged her off and walked silently down the stairs. He and his family were on their way to C.J's funeral. Well, Isaac, Taylor, Zac, Mr and Mrs. Hanson were. The boy's grandmother was staying home to look after the younger kids. Zac walked outside and saw the black limousine, waiting to take them to say goodbye to C.J for one last time. He climbed inside and found he was sitting next to Taylor. He stared out the window the entire ride to the church. Once they got there Zac saw C.J's family and the Bennet's. He walked inside and saw C.J's coffin at the front of the church. He walked up to it and looked inside. C.J was resting peacefully. She had been cleaned up and she looked like she was just sleeping.
"Hey" He said softly. Reaching in he took hold of one of C.J's hands. It was cold and limp. Tears welled up in Zac's eyes. "I miss you. I'm sorry C.J. I shouldn't have left you in that class room. I should have never even taken you there in the first place. If I hadn't... you'd... still be.. here with me... with us." He whispered through sobs. Zac felt an arm around his shoulders. He didn't bother shrugging it off.
"She looks beautiful huh?" Jaymi said softly. Zac just nodded, unable to talk anymore. She turned him around and lead him to a seat in the front phew. Zac didn't hear much of the service. He just thought about all the good times he had had with C.J. He couldn't believe some of the things he had done to her when they had disliked eachother. Truth was, Zac had always liked C.J. He was just a pain towards her because he hadn't known how to act around her. When the sevice finished, Zac watched as four men picked up C.J's coffin to carry it down the isle to load it into the hearse. C.J's favourite song "You Are Not Alone" started to play. Zac remembered that she had been listening to it the first time he told her he loved her. Zac stood up with everyone else and slowly followed them out of the church. Only C.J's family were going to the cemetery. Zac got into the limousine and once they got home, Zac went directly to the room he shared with his brothers. He sat in the middle of the floor and picked at the carpet. After half an hour he decided to leave the room. He stood up and turned to leave when something blue caught his eye. It was a small, fuzzy blue teddy bear that he had brought back for C.J from Australia. Zac picked it up and smiled. He knew this was C.J's goodbye to him. He had no idea on how the teddy bear got into his room but he knew that somehow, C.J had done it. He looked out of the window and up to the clouds.
"I love you C.J" He whispered. He then walked out of the room and closed the door behind him.
