Nick landed in Denver about 8 o clock at night. It was late but he didn't want to wait till morning to see Amanda. He drove the 45 minutes to her house to see her. It looked like no one was home but he pulled up to her house anyway. Turning off the car, he got out. He was a little scared to spring the news on her but he had to do it.
Nick rang the doorbell. No one was answering, but he gave it one more ring. The door opened and there was Amanda.
"Nick!!??"
Nick gave her a warm smile and embraced her in his strong arms.
"What are you doing here??"
"Umm, can we go up to your room and talk?"
"No one's home but me."
"Oh, ok."
Nick followed Amanda inside to her living room and sat down on the couch.
"Now, what are you doing here Nick!?!"
"I needed to tell you something and I didn't want to tell you over the phone or wait a month to do it."
"Nick, what's wrong?"
By now Amanda was getting pretty nervous since Nick was stalling a little bit.
Nick took Amanda's hand and firmly placed them in his.
"Last night. Something happened."
"What kind of something?"
"A big something. Criss and I didn't kiss."
"That's good news..right?"
"Well, yeah. But not in this case. After I got off the phone with you I had a talk with Criss. Amanda..."
"Nick, please, stop dragging this out. I'm getting nervous."
"According to her, we slept together."
Amanda broke free of Nick's hands and ran up the stairs to her room as fast as she could.
"Amanda!! Wait. "
Nick followed her to her room but only to be slammed in the face by the door.
He could hear her crying inside her room getting louder and louder. He wasn't going to wait for her to open up the door and since there was no lock on it he went inside.
"Get out!!" Amanda screamed.
"No!! I need to explain. "
"There's nothing to say Nick. You slept with my friend!!!!"
"No I didn't!!!!! I was drunk Amanda!!! I didn't know! I don't even remember!!"
"There you explained! Now get out!"
"No I won't."
"I said get out!!!"
Nick walked over to her and pulled her close to his body where he held her.
"Let me go!" Amanda said as she struggled to get free.
Nick held her closer to him and tighter.
"Amanda, calm down. Calm down."
Amanda continued to cry.
"I Love you baby. Please believe me!! " Nick cried.
"Why does everything happen to me!? Everything bad happens to me."
Her sentence struck Nick like a hole in his head. "E-even, me?"
Amanda looked up seeing tears forming in his eyes.
"Oh, gosh. No, Nick. You we're the best thing to ever happen to me. Just, everything keeps going wrong!! I mean, you slept with my friend!!"
"I was drunk!!!! I didn't know better!," he said as he let go of Amanda.
"Nick, leave. Please. "
"But Aman---"
"Leave please," Amanda interrupted him roughly.
"Amanda, please I want to ta---"
"Leave!! Now."
Nick wasn't going to convince her to let him stay so he walked out of her room and out of her house. He walked to his car and drove over to his hotel he'd be staying at for night.
While at Amanda's house her parents and sister came back home to see Amanda looking like she was crying.
"Amanda, dear, what's wrong," her mother asked her.
"Nothing."
"You were crying."
"I, uh, seen a sad movie. A real tear jerker," she covered up.
"What was it called?" her mother kept pushing.
"I don't remember."
Amanda decided maybe some sleep would help her so she said goodnight. In her room she didn't go to sleep, but intead she dialed Criss.
Criss looked at the caller ID and seen it was unknown, obviously a long distance call. She picked it up with a hello?
"Criss." she said tear free.
"Hey Amanda. Long time no talk!! " she laughed.
"Yeah, uh, is Nick there?"
"Nope, he left this morning somewhere."
"Do you know where he went or when he'll be back?"
"Nope, sorry, can't help you there."
"Would you like to know where he is?"
"What do you mean by that?"
"Did you know he's in Denver and that he showed up on my doorstep this evening?"
"That's nice, what does that have to do with me?"
"Everything. Why do you think he flew all the way to Denver Criss?"
"He missed you?"
"Wrong!! Want me to fill you in?"
"If you'd like to."
"Change of plans. How about you fill me in on how you SLEPT with him?"
Criss chuckled. "Yeah, that's an easy one. We both got drunk, nice time actually. Did you know he's really good? Wait, you wouldn't. Cuz you never did it before."
"Oh, that was harsh. I have enough respect for myself to wait until I know I'm ready. You get drunk and sleep with every male figure in the room."
" Nope, just your Nicky. "
" What possessed you to even do that!? Megan influencing you? "
" Nu uh. Her friend Alicia. Did you know they've been stalking me and Nick? They got him drunk, they trashed his house, everything."
"Excuse me? "
Ok little miss perfect. Want details? Every since you left here, Megan's been calling my house looking for Nick. Her friend Alicia is too. I actually talked to them both. I made them trash his house when he was gone so he'd come live with me. I made them get him drunk. Nick has no clue that I've been part of the plan. Every since Nick and you got back together in the hospital I was trying to get him to break up with you.
"Why would you do this to me? And Nick.
"Because I can."
"God, if you're pregnant, I will knock you out cold."
"Whatever the future may bring I can handle it all."
" Nick doesn't love you, he never will."
