Chapter 8 - Sweet Dreams

***An hour later***
After spending the night at the park, everyone returned back to the hotel. They were all standing in front of Kevin’s room.

“Tonight was great.” Katie said.

“It was, wasn’t it?” Nick agreed, with a big smile on his face.

“Hey,” Erin said. She walked towards her friends. “Are we going to sleep in our cloths tonight?”

“I guess so.” Melissa answered.

“Or you can wear one of our cloths.” Brian suggested.

The girls looked at each other and said. “No thanks.”

“I’ll be happier if I sleep in my cloths tonight, thanks anyway, Brian.” Melissa said.

“Well, I guess I’ll see everyone in the morning and you’ll be getting a wake up call at 7am and we’ll meet in my room at…7:30am, okay?” Kevin asked.

Everyone agreed and walked towards their room. Howie, Kevin and AJ’s room was all on one side, while Brian and Nick’s room was on the other side of the corridor. AJ and Nick’s room was facing each other, while Kevin’s and Brian was facing each other too.

Everyone was inside their rooms but for AJ, Nick and Katie.

“Here ya go, Kate. Welcome to my room.” Nick said, while he unlocked the door and then he turned to doorknob. “You can go in first.”

“Thanks, Nick.” Katie said, as she walked inside his room.

The room was nice and tidy. All you could see was a red bag on the desk, some couches and chairs, a lamp, a desk and a double bed.

“Man, and I thought he was suppose to be the messy one.” Katie thought to herself. “Not the clean one.”

Nick was about to walking in until AJ placed his hand on his shoulders.

“Nick, can I talk to you?” AJ asked.

“Sure.”

Nick turned to Katie. “Hey Kate, I’ll be right back.” He closed to door as AJ lead him towards his room.

“Nick, are you okay with Katie sleeping with ya?” AJ asked.

“Sure I’m okay. Anyway, I offered her to sleep in my room.” Nick said.

AJ wasn’t so sure that Katie should sleep in Nick’s room. “Well, if you’re sure then. I’ll see ya in the morning. See ya.” He turned the doorknob and entered into his room.

“What’s eating him?” Nick wondered to himself. He turned and entered in his room.

***Meanwhile***
“Good night, Howie.” Melissa said.

“Good night.”

Howie was sleeping on the couch, while Melissa slept on his bed.

“And Howie, thanks for letting me sleep in your room.”

“Anytime, Melissa.”

They continued to talk for awhile until they fell asleep.

***Meanwhile***

Brian was in his room, sitting on his bed.

“Of course I miss you, I love you so, much! You know I do, Leigh Ann.”

Brian was on the telephone with his girlfriend. They’ve been together for almost a year now.

“I can’t wait until I come back to Orlando, then I could see you beautiful face again.”

***At the same time***
‘Knock, knock, knock!’

“I’ll get that.” Kevin said.

Kevin and Erin were on two separate keyboards. He opened the door. A man, dressed in black was at the door.

“Hey Tommy!” Kevin said. “Come in.”

Tommy walked inside the room after Kevin closed the door behind him.

“Hey Kev…and you are?” He took out his hands towards Erin.

“I’m…I’m…I’m Erin.” She said, she shook his hand.

Erin loved Tommy, she loved the way he played on the piano and she can’t help feeling happy and excited when she sees him on tv too.

“Well, now that we all know each other. Can we get started now.” Kevin said.

“Sure.” Erin and Tommy said.

“Oh yeah, Tommy. Erin will be playing with us, is that okay with you?” Kevin asked.

Tommy looked at her. “Sure. It’ll be good to have a new player, for once.” He started to set up his keyboard.

Erin still couldn’t believe that she was actually meeting Tommy…in real life! She tried her best, to be herself but it only work a bit.

“Let’s get started.” Tommy said.

The three of them played all night, until it was 12:00 in the morning. Tommy left after they all decide it was time to get some sleep. Erin and Kevin both slept on the floor because they were talking about things, about what they did with Tommy, but the fell asleep instead, after awhile.

***Later that night***
“Great…it’s 3:00am…” Katie looked at her watch. She was sleeping on the couch while Nick slept in his bed. They had a big fight over who should sleep on the couch and Katie won.

Katie got up and looked over at Nick. “Why can’t I sleep. Nick’s sleeping peacefully in his bed. I’ve only slept for…well, 4 hours.” She thought to herself.

“I’m so bored, I hate this…(sigh)…I think I’ll take a walk.”

She walked over to the desk, where Nick placed the key to the room and picked it up. She wrote him a note, just in case if he wakes up.

Hey Nick,
I’ve gone out for a walk and I’ve taken the key to the room. Don’t worry about me, I’ll be back soon.

Kate

She walked across the room and opened the door and quietly closed it.

Someone came behind her and so she turned around and said. “Who’s there?”

“Whoa! It’s just me.” The person stepped back.

Katie sighed with relief. “What the hell are you doing, sneaking behind people, like that, AJ?”

“I just saw you come out of Nick’s room, and I just thought, I’ll just come over to see what’s wrong.”

“Well, nothing’s wrong. I just can’t sleep.”

“Why? You’re thinking about something?”

“No.”

“Have you drank a warm glass of milk?”

“I can’t, ‘cuz Nick’s in the room and I don’t wanna disturb him.”

“Well, my room ran out of milk, so I can’t help you with that.”

“AJ,” Katie said. “Why are you awake?”

“Why I’m wake, the same thing with you. But instead, I had a lot of things on my mind.”

“Like what?”

“Like thinking about a…special girl, who I think I like.”

“What do you mean think? If you like her then you do, if you don’t, then that’s it.”

“It’s not that simple, Kate. I don’t even know if she likes me.” He sighed.

“Oh man…Then why don’t you just ask her?”

“I’m scared that she’ll laugh at me…and it might wreck our friendship ‘cuz we just met. Plus I think she likes someone else.”

“But it’ll be good to just say it in the open, wouldn’t it?”

He placed his right hand on her left shoulder. “Well, if I say to you. Kate, do you love me? How would you reacted?”

“Um…good point. But if you really would ask that to me I’ll…”

AJ leaned closer to her. “Yes.”

“I’ll freak out.”

“What!?!” He had a puzzled face. “Why, would you freak out.” He moved back.

“I don’t know? I guess it’s one of those first reactions. Anyway, if my dream guy said that to me I’ll be so happy.”

“Really.”

“Yeah, really.”

“That’s great!”

“Why?”

“’Cuz, you’re in love with someone. Who’s your dream guy?”

“Why don’t you guess?” A cheeky smile appeared on her face.

“Me…” He smiled.

She smiled and gave out a light laugh. “I’ll let you suffer and you can find out who the person is.”

“Oh, come on. Can’t you tell me now?”

“Sorry, AJ.”

“Well, at least give me a clue.”

“Well then. He’s a member of Backstreet Boys and I think I should get back inside, so I’ll see ya later. AJ!” Katie smiled.

“Kate! Before you go. Are you okay in there?”

“Yeah, of course I am…why?”

“I don’t know, I just wanna make sure.” He grinned.

“AJ, is there something you wanna say to me?”

“Um…” He began. He took of his sunglasses and looked up into her eyes. “Kate, do you have a boyfriend?”

Katie had a shocked face. “Is that all. Do I have a boyfriend? Man, I thought you were going to ask me something more important then that.”

“Well, do you.” He moved in close to her.

“No.” She moved back a step. “Well, I better get going. I’ll see ya in the morning, Good night!”

“Good night, Kate! Sweet dreams!” He watched her as she walking inside in Nick’s room and after she closed the door he smiled and walked inside his room.

Katie placed the key on the desk and scrunch up the letter on the desk and threw it in the bin. After that she made her way towards the couch and laid on it, with a soft cotton blanket was on top of her.

She stared at the ceiling and thought. “It’s either me or AJ is getting weirder every minute.”

***The next day at 7am***
‘Ring, ring!’ Went the phone.

“I don’t wanna wake up…” Kateie thought. She left the phone to ring two more times. “That’s it! I can’t take this anymore.” “Hello…” She said.

“Hi! I’m from the lobby and I’m your wake up call, so-” The person with croaky voice said.

“Yeah, yeah, I know, thanks. I’m awake. Bye…” Katie interrupted and she hung up the phone.

She looked over at Nick. “Great, he’s still asleep.” She thought.

She got up and walked over to Nick’s bed.

“Nick…Nick, it’s time to wake up.” She pushed him gently two times.

Nick groaned and mumbled. “I don’t wanna wake up.”

“And you think I wanted to?”

“Yes...”

Katie took a deep breath. “Don’t make me do anything rash to you, Nick.”

Nick rolled over onto his back to face Katie. “I’ll like to see you try.” He gave a huge smile.

“Fine then. You asked for it.” Katie smiled back at him.

She walked to the end of the bed and tried pulled the bed cover away from him, but Nick grab onto it and he was holding it really tight, so Katie gave up. Then she grabbed onto Nick’s foot and pulled it. Nick slid all the way down the bed until he fell on the ground.

“Well, now that you’re a wake Nick, maybe you should get really now.” Katie said. “Find then, you win.”

“Here, let me help you up.” Katie reached her hands.

Nick grabbed her hands. “Thanks.”

When he was up on his feet, he lets go of her hands. “Pay back time.”

He pushed Katie onto the bed and playfully, he started to tickle her, when he got on top of her.

“Nick…don’t!” Katie shouted.

“Suffer!”

“Stop…Please!”

“Only if you do one thing.”

“Okay.”

“You’ll have to do anything that I want you to do.”

“What! No way!”

He tickled her even more.

“Okay…anything you want!”

Nick stoped tickling her and lends towards her face. “You promise?”

“I promise.”

“Cross your heart and hope to die?”

“Even cross my heart and hope to die.”

He got off her and they both sat up on the bed.

“I’ll save my wish for later.” He gave a cheeky smile.

“Great.” Katie rolled her eyes. “I’ll be looking forward to it.”

“Don’t worry Kate, it won’t be a bad thing, it’ll be a good thing, Okay?”

She grinned. “Okay. Oh and Nick.”

“Yeah.”

“Thanks.”

“For what?”

“For last night. If we didn’t talk about the thing, I would still be hating the others by now.”

“Well then, your welcome.” He smiled. “Anyway, it’s great to talk about our problems to other people, right?”

She lends towards Nick and kisses him on the cheek while giving him a hug after. “Right.”

Then she looked at the clock on the lamp desk. “It’s 7:14am. We better get going and you better get dressed or the others are gonna tell us off badly, for being late.”

“Okay...” Nick said. He was still shock that Katie would kiss him, even on the cheek.

“Nick, what’s wrong with you, come on, get a move on! We’re gonna be late.”

***Meanwhile ***
It was 7:40am and everyone was in Kevin’s room, but for Katie and Nick.

“Where are they?” AJ wondered out loud.

Nobody answered the question because they couldn’t say anything to answer him.

“Knock, knock!” Everyone turn toward the door.

“Hey Kev, it’s me and Kate.” Nick said.

Kevin walked over to the door and opened it.

“Sorry, we’re late.”

Kevin closed the door as both of them walked inside the room and sat down somewhere.

“Anyway, now that everyone’s here, let’s discuss what’s going to happen for today.” Kevin began.

After every knew what was happening today, the Backstreet Boys and the three girls, walked out of the hotel and got in a black limo.

“Wow, this limo is nice.” Katie said.

“And it even has a tv too.” Brian said.

“Well, first of all, it was nice to meet you three.” Kevin said.

“And it was nice to meet you too, all of you.” Erin said.

“We’re all gonna keep in contact with each other and do you have our phone numbers, e-mail addresses, home addresses...” Melissa said.

“Yep, we got all three, yours, Kate and Erin.” Howie said.

“Maybe we could have another picnic again, when we see each other next year.” Brian said.

Everyone agreed with him.

***15 minutes later***
“Well, that’s my place.” Melissa said, she pointed at her house, just to show the others which place was hers.

“Nice place.” Howie said.

Melissa lived in a unit. The outside colour of the unit, was sky blue and cream. She lived on the third floor.

Everyone got out of the limo. They all shook hands and hugged each other and said their good bye.

“It was great to meet ya all.” Katie said.

She hugged Nick and whispered. “Thanks for everything, Nick.”

“Your welcome, Kate.” He whispered back, and he kissed her on the cheek.

“And it was fanatic to meet…” AJ began to say. He looked at Nick and Katie as they stared into each other’s eyes. “…All of you…too.”

“Yeah, well, anyway. We better get going. We got four interviews coming up and we don’t wanna be late for it.” Howie said.

“We’ll see you next year…or earlier, but until then, we’ll call one of you, sometime later, See ya!” Brian said.

The Backstreet Boys began to walk back to the limo as the girls followed.

“Bye!” Everyone said to each other.

The limo left after the boys got in the limo. They waved out the windows. Nick and Brian were waving from the sunroof. Kevin, Howie and AJ were waving from the side windows. The girls were standing on the footpath and they waved back.

“Man, last night was so cool.” Katie said, as she turned to her friends.

They all began to walk towards Melissa’s house.

“Yeah, it defiantly was.” Erin said.

“I can’t wait until next year to see them.” Melissa said. “Oh yeah, Kate?”

“Yeah.”

“Why were you late this morning?”

“It was because Nick, took forever, to get out of bed. All he wanted to do was to go back to sleep.”

“Is that all?!? Everyone thought you and Nick was making out or something.” Erin said. Then she thought. “Although, AJ kept quite as we began that topic.”

“Gross man! As if I would do something like that, anyway, the only time I would do that is if Nick was my boyfriend.”

“That’s our Kate. We’re just glad that you and Nick didn’t pash at all.” Melissa said.

They began to laugh.

***Meanwhile***
“Nick, is there anything going on with you and Kate?”

“I don’t think so!?! But even if there is, there’s no big deal, AJ.” Nick said.

“Or maybe there is. You and Kate got along pretty well, you know?”

“We’re just friends, or are you jealous?”

“Me, jealous, of you. I don’t think so.”

“Then shut up will ya!” Nick looked out the window.

“Oh, poor Nick. I’m so sorry to say things about you and your girlfriend like that.”

“That’s it! What’s your problem about me and Kate?” Nick snapped.

Before AJ could open his mouth, Kevin got in before he could say anything.

“AJ, leave Nick alone. Who cares if there is something going on between them, who cares if they’re going to be together one day and we defiantly don’t care if he gets along with Katie the most, but Brian gets along with her too, so there’s no big deal. So let’s just end this nonsense.”

“AJ, Nick, shake hands and make up, okay?” Howie said.

“Fine then…” AJ mumbled.

Nick and AJ shook hands and they apologise to each other.

“Now that we are all friends again. We’re here.” Brian said.

The Backstreet Boys got out of their limo and headed inside the building for the interview.
