Chapter 10 - The Promise

 ***30 minutes later***
Everyone had finished getting changed and now they were either fixing up their hair or wondering what jeweller to wear. The rest that have nothing to do was sitting in Nick’s room chatting.

Kevin wore his black leather jacket with a white t-shirt inside and black leather jeans he wore his black shoes, Howie wore a red and navy blue striped woollen jumper with a white shirt inside and blue jeans with his black shoes. Brian wore a black leather jacket with a grey t-shirt inside and dark blue jeans with his black shoes. AJ wore a blue jacket with a blue and white t-shirt inside and blue jeans and his Nike running shoes and Nick wore black leather jacket with a royal blue t-shirt and his black jeans and his Nike runners shoes. Leighanne wore a red dress that was above then her knees, with a short red jacket and she wore red matching high heel shoes. Katie wore a black jacket with her dark purple t-shirt inside and black jeans and her Nike running shoes that she wore to the hotel.

“…Oh yeah! And you guys, Sarah is gonna be with us for dinner, Okay?” Howie asked.

“Sure.” Brian said.

“Yeah, it’ll be great to see her again.” Leighanne said.

Everyone was siting on the bed, chairs or couches.

Katie got up from her chair and walked over to AJ. He watched her as she walked towards him and bobbed down next to him.

“AJ, can I talk to you.” She whispered to him.

“…Why?” He whispered back in a lifeless voice.

“Please, AJ.” She looked at him and grinned.

Without a word, he got up and left the room. Katie stood up and started to walk towards the door. “We’ll be right back. Nick, Brian, Leighanne tell the others.” They nodded.

“Do you mind if we go somewhere private?” Katie said.

“Fine.” He walked towards his room and unlocked it. “Coming in or not?”

Katie walked inside his room and sat on his bed. She watched as AJ close the door and then he just stood there with his head down and arms crossed.

“AJ, sit down.”

He sat next to her on his bed. “So, what did you want to talk about?”

“The truth.”

“The truth on what?” He looked up at her.

“The truth…on why you’re acting so strange lately.”

“I haven’t acted strange at all.”

“Oh yes you have. Let’s see…how about the time you rang me up, 2am in the morning, like come on you hanged up on me with out any reason and what about the time you…”

“Okay! Fine then, I’m sorry if I’ve being acting that way.”

“But do you really mean it? From your heart?”

“I do mean it…I…I…(sigh)…” He took of his sunglasses and stared straight into her eyes. “Kate…I…” He held her hands and held it. “I love you Kate.”

There was a total silence in the room.

“AJ, I...” She looked down.

“Kate… I mean I love you like a good friend, as you do too…remember?” He gave a cheeky smile at her. “Man, that was a close one. With the expression on her face, she must really love Nick…” He thought.

She smiled back. “Of course I do.

“Kate, I’m so sorry for the way I’m being acting. I just had so many things on my mind, can you for give me?”

“Of course I can. Anyway, we’re good friends, right?”

“Right.” He lends towards her and kissed her on the cheek. “We better head back.”

“…Yeah, sure.” She felt a shiver down her spine, when he kissed her.

***A hour later***
Everyone was now at Dono’s Palace.

Erin wore a purple jacket with a black t-shirt inside and her blue jeans and her black party shoes and Melissa wore a black dress that was just above her knees and her black party shoes.

Everyone was having a great time, they all finished eating, and now they were all dancing on the dance floor. Kevin was enjoying himself dancing with a girl called Billie. Howie was dancing around with his girlfriend Sarah. Brian was having a great time dancing with Leighanne. AJ was dancing with Erin and Nick was dancing with Katie and Melissa was dancing with a guy she met, called Zac.

***2 hours later***
AJ and Erin found a new partner to dance with, while Kevin and Billie sat around the dinner table, talking about things. For everyone else, they were still dancing.

“Okay…for the next 30 minutes, will be playin’ slow and romantic songs, for all you love birds out here…and here’s the first song. It’s sang by Mariah Carey, and the songs called…Honey.” Said the Dj.

***15 minutes later***
“Man…how am I gonna tell her…” Nick thought, as he looked over at Brian and Leighanne, as they danced closed to each other. Then he looked at the girl in front of him and sighed.

The song ‘Honey to the B’ sang by Billie, started to play.

“Kate…” He said.

Katie looked up and replied. “Yeah.”

“Do you wanna…”He froze as he looked into her eyes.

“Do I wanna what?”

“…Umm, go outside?” He smiled.

“Sure.”

They walked side out, onto the balcony. The wind was blowing lightly, and there were only 4 other people on the balcony.

“Looks like it’s gonna rain.” Katie said, as she looked up at the cloudy sky.

“Well, even if it does, it won’t wreak tonight.” Nick said, as he looked up at the sky. “There’s a full moon out, tonight.”

Katie smiled. “And it’s shinning brightly too.”

Nick turned his head towards her. “Kate, I…I gotta asked you something.”

Katie faced him and answered. “What is it then?” She grinned at him.

The wind was starting to blow harder. He took her hands and stared into her eyes with a prefect smile on his face.

“Katie…” He began.

She could see the same twinkle in his eyes, as she remembered the first the time she met him. “Yes.”

“Will you be…” He took a deep breath and held her hands even tighter. “Will you be my girlfriend?”

There was a long silence in the air. All you could here was the song Honey to the B, finishing.

Nick looked down and shook his head. “I’m sorry Kate. I shouldn’t have ask you that.”

“Nick, I’ll be happy to be you girlfriend.” She grinned.

“I’m so stupid…what?” He looked back up at her.

“You heard me. I’ll be happy to be your girlfriend.”

Nick was speechless, so he just hugged her instead.

They closed their eyes as they held each other really tight.

“I love you Kate.”

“I love you too, Nick.”

They looked up at each other and smiled, as their lips slowly met together.

***A few minutes later***
“Kate, remember our agreement, that we made?”

They were still outside on the balcony.

“Yeah, of course I do. I’ve been waiting more then 2 years to see what the promise is gonna be.”

“Well then. Tonight, you shall know.”

Nick placed his hands on her shoulder as he stared into her eyes.

“Kate, promise me you’ll never kiss anybody on the lips, but me.”

“What…?” She began to say.

“Kate, I mean your not allowed to kiss someone with a lot of passion, but me.”

“Nick, why would I kiss someone else with a lot of passion? I got you to do that.”

He smiled. “So you promise?”

She returned his smiled “Yeah, I promise.”

“We’ll break our promise when we break up, okay?”

“Sure.”

This time they didn’t shake hands, to keep the agreement, they sealed it with a kiss instead.

***15 minutes later***
It was 10:05pm, everyone but AJ, who was still dancing, was sitting around the round table relaxing and talking to each other.

“Hey, can I say something!” Nick stood up.

Everyone faced him.

“Thanks. Well, I…sorry, I mean we,” Nick looked at Katie and smiled, as she was sitting next to him. “Have something to say…”

“Say it already!” Brian couldn’t wait anymore.

“Well, I got a new girlfriend.”

Everyone but Nick and Katie, was shocked by the news.

“Who’s the girl then?” Kevin asked.

“She next to me.” He smiled.

Everyone was happy with good new that Nick gave. They all said their congratulations to them, but for AJ, who was still dancing.

“That’s great news!” Melissa said and hugged her friend as Erin done that same thing too.

“Well, anyway, we’ll be leaving at 11:00 or 11:30, okay?” Howie said.

Everyone nodded, and started to make their way towards the dance floor.

***40 minutes later***
Kevin and Melissa were getting to know Billie and Zac really well, throughout the night. Howie and Brian were having a great time with their girlfriend, Sarah and Leighanne. Nick and Katie was dancing and talking all night long. Erin meet a guy called Tim, they just danced and talked all night too, while AJ was still dancing with a lot of girls around him.

“Hey guys! Enjoying yourself?” A tall skinny man asked.

Nick and Katie looked at each other and smiled.

“Yeah we are. And you?” Nick said.

“Yeah…you know me.” He grinned.

“Of course I do AJ.”

AJ looked at Katie and smiled. “Do you mind if we dance?”

She looked at Nick.

“Go for it, Kate.”

“Okay…then…Bye Nick.”

AJ was already dragging her through the dancing crowd.

***15 minutes later***
Nick, Brian and Leighanne were sitting around the dinner table, talking.

“…Nick, if you wanna dance with her, get her back.” Brian said.

“Yeah right. Look at her, she’s having a great time.”

“Nick, Katie is not having a great time dancing with AJ.” Leighanne said.

“Yeah, how do you know?”

She sighed. “Nick, why would she be looking at you, for the last fifteen minutes?”

Nick couldn’t answer her back.

“Nick…she wants to dances with you.”

“Leighanne has a point, Nick.” Brian said.

Nick sighed again while he looked down.

“Hey, we’ll see ya later. We’re gonna dance for awhile.”

“Yeah, I’ll see ya.” Nick said.

***At the same time***
“Having a good time, Kate?” AJ asked.

“Yeah...” All through the fifteen minutes, all she could do was to think of Nick.

“Kate…” AJ said.

She grinned. “Yeah.”

“I can’t hide my feelings anymore. The first time when I meet you it was great.

When I saw you dancing and wearing the cloths to ‘show me the meaning’…it was like…wow. Plus, when I saw you dancing with Nick…tonight…I saw the way your move you body to every beat of the songs…and now that I’m dancing with you…I…I think.” He stoped and smiled at her.

She didn’t know what to do, so she just smiled back and thought. “Why is he smiling like that!?!”

“I think I’m in love…with you.”

“What!?!” She was shocked, by the news. “Nick! Where are you!” She thought.

“Find then. I’m gonna go and get my girl back and dance with her all night.” Nick thought, as he stood up.

Brian and Leighanne were dancing near AJ and Katie.

“Brian, what is AJ doing?” Leighanne whispered.

Brian turned and looked at AJ. AJ’s hands his hands on Katie’s cheek.

“I don’t know but Kate, looks like she’s starting to freak out…Badly!”

Leighanne saw Nick starting to walk towards AJ and Katie. “And it looks like Nick’s going get Kate back.”

“I have a fear this is gonna get ugly.” Brian said.

“I agree.”

“Nick! You’re coming!” Katie thought. She watched as Nick was walking closer towards her and AJ. He was smiling and so she smiled back.

“You’re so beautiful.” AJ said.

“Thanks…” She didn’t make eye contact with him as she was looking at Nick. Nor was she paying attention of what AJ even said.

“I love you Kate.”

“Yeah, yeah, okay I…you what!?!” She looked at him in a shocked expression. He smiled. “You heard me. I love you.”

One second AJ was saying that he loved her, the next her was kissing her.

Katie didn’t know what just happen ‘coz it all happen so fast. All she knew that the expression on Nick’s face was a heart being shaded into little pieces. She saw Nick shake his head and she could see what he said, and it was “You promised.” He turned and ran through the crowd. Brian ran after him shouting “Nick, wait!”

When she finally pushed AJ away from her, she pushed him on the floor. “What the heck do you think your doing!” She shouted.

Everyone in the place stoped what they were doing and watched what AJ and Katie was doing.

AJ picked himself up. “I was kissing you. Kate, don’t you love me?”

“AJ, I have a boyfriend! And now thanks to you…” Her eyes stared to water. “Now, he’s gonna hate me forever!” She lifted up her right fist, ready to punch someone in the face.

Leighanne ran up to Katie before she could hit AJ, while she held Katie’s arm back. “Kate, no! What do you think your doing?”

“I gonna bash him up! I hate you AJ!”

AJ was shock by the last four words she said.

“Leighanne, let’s go!”

Leighanne lets go and then she spoke in a charm soft voice. “Kate, I know he cause you a lot of pain, but Nick will never hate you because he kissed you.”

Katie faced her. “Leighanne, you don’t understand. Nothing can change this night, Nick will hate me forever and it’s all because of him!” She shouted and pointed at AJ.

“She’s…Nick’s…girlfriend!?!” AJ thought in a shocked way.

The others saw everything happen. Erin and Melissa started to walk toward their friend. But Kevin stoped them and said. “I’ll handle this.

Kevin walked towards Katie . “Let’s go.”

“What about Nick and Brian?” Katie asked.

“They’re gonna catch a cab back to the hotel.”

The others and AJ started to leave.

Kevin placed his arm around her shoulders. “Let’s go Kate.”

She didn’t answer. All she did was look at the ground, while a tear dripped off her face and onto the wooden ground.

Leighanne and Kevin looked at each other.

“Katie, don’t worry about it, Nick will always love you.” Leighanne said. She still didn’t reply.

“Kate, you wanna sleep over with me, tonight? So you can have someone to talk to tonight?” Kevin suggested.

“Or you can sleep over with me and Brian.” Leighanne said.

Katie gave out a long sigh and said. “Thanks for the offer but…” She didn’t know to say. She was too busy think about Nick.

“Kate, your staying with me tonight and I won’t take no for answer.” Kevin said.

“Fine then…” She said in a dull voice.

The three of them began to walk out the door and towards the two cars parked outside. Next Chapter
