CONTRACTOR REQUIREMENTS

Chapter 7

CONTRACTOR REQUIREMENTS

General. When a contractor arranges to have another contractor perform work that involves a permit-required space entry, both contractor shall:

Notify the Prime Contractor and CST that work will be performed in a permit-required confined space and ensure the information is included in the statement of work (SOW) or equivalent contracting tool.

The CST shall review emergency rescue responsibilities to determine whether the contractor supplies it's own rescue team or if another is expected to supply the rescue function. Ensure the rescue agency coordinates with the contractor and either approves or disapproves the use of their rescue team.

The CST will brief the contractor on the contents of the space and known hazards that make the space permit-required (see the MEP). And brief the contractor on precautions and procedures that have been implemented by the CST to protect workers (see MEP and Job Safety Analysis conducted for the space).

Specific . The CST coordinates entry operations and procedures with the contractor and agree upon the permit space entry system to be used when multi-contractor employees will be working in a confined space.
