2002 Carolina Blue Cup Tournament
The 2002 Carolina Blue Cup was held February 16-17 in Fetzer Gym on the campus of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. This tournament brought a strong amount of talent from all across the United States and was the largest as well as most competitive pool to convene at the Hill since the tournament's inception. Teams such as Garden City, Atlanta Metro, West Point, and SSC(NJ) came to do battle on Carolina's home court, showcasing some of the U.S.'s top talent on the collegiate and national levels. The Carolina THC placed 5th in the event, a ranking not indicative of the 3-2 record for the weekend. The Tar Heel THC also put forth a resilient effort, showcased in thriller overtime shoot-out victory over a tough West Point Gold squad. Carolina Blue also displayed flashes of brilliance throughout the tournament, finishing 8th overall in competitive pools. Team members made huge contributions both on and off the court, and Carolina Team Handball would like to thank all the competitors, volunteers, and sponsors for helping make the Blue Cup such a success. We look forward to seeing you all again next year. For the official tournament results, hit the links below.
