CHOCOLATE REVEL BARS

3 cp quick cooking oats
2 1/2 cp flour
1 Teaspoon baking soda
1 cp butter or oleo -- divided
2 cp brown sugar -- packed
1 can sweetened condensed milk
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cp walnuts -- chopped, optional
1 1/2 cp semisweet chocolate chips
2 eggs
Preheat oven to 350 degrees
Stir together oats, flour, baking soda & 1 tsp salt in medium bowl.
In a large bowl, beat 1 cup butter or oleo on medium speed for 30 seconds.
Add brown sugar & beat until fluffy. Add eggs and 2 tsp vailla. Beat
well. Add oats mixture to beaten mixture & beat until well blended.
In heavy saucepan, heat chocolate pieces, sweetened condensed milk,
remaining 2 tb butter and remaining 1/2 tsp salt over low heat. Stir
until smooth. Remove fromheat, stir in nuts and remaining 2 tsp vanila.
Pat 2/3 of oat mixtue into bottom of ungreased 10x15 bakingpan. Spread
with chocolate mixture. Dot with remaiing oat mixture. Bake at 350
degrees 25-30 minutes or until done. Toothpick inserted into center should
come out clean.
Cool on wire rack; cut into bars. Makes 48 bars.
