I stood there impatiently waiting for AJ to decide if he was going to dance with that Katie chick. He hadn’t taken his eyes off of her since she walked up.
“Well…” she questioned innocently, her green eyes glistening.
“Of course we can dance!” he said, immediate placing his arm around her waist, as if that’s where it belonged.
I stood there stunned for a minute. I know my boyfriend didn’t just do that, but when I looked up and saw them swaying gently to the music, I realized it was all too real. I felt sick…I just wanted to leave. I walked over to our table and grabbed my purse. As I turned around, I saw that AJ and Katie were engaged in a passionate kiss. I felt a sharp pang shoot through my heart and felt my tummy do a summersault. Tears immediately starting flowing down my cheeks. I ran out of the club and took a taxi back to the hotel. I sobbed all the way to the hotel. The image of AJ and Katie liplocked kept reappearing in my mind. How could he do this to me? I thought he loved me! I walked into the dark, empty hotel room and flopped down onto the bed. I just sobbed into my pillow until somehow I fell asleep.

Nick drove us back to the hotel. We were still soaking wet.
“Hey, I’ve got an idea!” Nick said mischieviously, raising an eyebrow.
I bit my lip nervously as I watched him open the hotel door for me.
“Well…since we’re already wet, why don’t we go get into the hot tub?” he suggested.
“Are you serious?!” I asked wide-eyed, starting to laugh.
“Sure, why not?” he shrugged innocently.
For once I agreed with him. We practically skipped like little kids, hand in hand, to the hot tub. It was so late that nobody else was in there…just the two of us. I leaned myself on Nick’s shoulder as he played with a strand of my wet hair.
“Your hair’s a mess!” he laughed flopping it in my face.
“As if yours isn’t…” I shot back looking up at his hair. It was all messed up; just a blonde mass of the top of his head. “Very cute, Nickolas. Very cute.”
I reached up to fix it back into place. Then he reached over and pulled me to him. I was wrapped in his arms all night long……

“Alright Bri, don’t get all gooey on me. It’s your turn for some karoke!” I proclaimed, standing up.
“No way! I don’t perform for free!” he declared, crossing his arms of his chest protectively.
“Oh c’mon you spoiled little pop star. Pretend it’s for charity,” I persisted pulling him to his feet.
“Oh yeah…who’s the charity?” he questioned.
“Poor ‘lil ol’ me, of course,” I smiled.
“Oh alright…” he sighed taking the microphone.
I immediately recognized the old Elvis tune “Teddy Bear” as Brian belted out “Won’t you be my teddy bear?” He looked so cute up there singing, adding in all those pelvic thrusts and lip movements, just like the King himself! The people there were falling in love with his voice…it was amazing! Finally when he finished, everyone roared with applause. He took a bow and then came to sit down by me.
“How was that?” he asked taking a sip of my drink.
“I don’t think you need me to tell ya how it was,” I said smiling.
“Yeah, but I wanna hear it from you!” he whined, taking my hands into his.
“You sounded just like an angel,” I told him seriously.
“Aww…thanks. Now, I’ve gotta question for ya,” he declared.
“What?” I asked him.
“Won’t you be my teddy bear?” he laughed.
“Yes, of course I will!” I wrapped my arms around his neck and gave him a big bear hug.

Kevin paid for our dinner and we left the restaurant.
“Now we go dress shopping!” I clapped my hands together happily.
“Do you always get this excited about shopping?” he asked with a raised eyebrow.
“Nah…only when I’m shopping with you,” I teased, taking his hand as we entered a dress shop.
I had an armload of dresses after about ten minutes of scrounging around the store.
“C’mon…I gotta try ‘em on!” I coaxed Kevin into the dressing room.
“Now you sit right here and I’ll come out and show ya each one,” I told him walking into the dressing room.
I had tried on a few which as Kevin put it were to “risque”, whatever he meant by that…
“Oh Kev, we’re down to three dress now,” I told him stepping out of the dressing room.
“That one’s nice,” he told me blankly.
“Uh…yeah, right…that’s why you’re staring at the floor, right?” I asked annoyed.
“Sorry, I’m just tired. Try on the last two and we’ll go, ok?” he asked with puppy dog eyes.
I agreed and went to try the last two on. I came out in a lavender ballroom dress. It had straps made of diamods and was semi-low cut. The back was made of diamond criss-crossed straps.
“Well, what do ya think?” I asked Kevin turning myself in a circle, modeling the dress.
His green eyes brightened as he watched me stand in front of the mirror.
“It’s perfect. Vic, you look like a princess,” he exclaimed.
“Well, I feel like one!” I laughed. “Now if only I had some shoes…”
“I’ll go pick you out some shoes; you just stay here and change, ok?” he offered.
“Sure!” Who was I to argue? I ran back into the dressing room to change. I met Kevin at the cash register.
“Lemme see what you picked out,” I said, trying to peek into the shoebos.
“No, don’t! It’s a surprise. I’ll bring them to you tomorrow when we go out,” he smiled handing the saleslady his credit card.
I felt my heart beat with anticipation and excitement as we left and headed back to the hotel.

I ran as far as my legs would take me or until the beach ran out…tears were still streaming down my face and I rougly wiped them away. My legs were burning and they felt so heavy, but I had to keep running because I could hear Howie calling after me. I ran and ran and ran until my legs wouldn’t go anymore and I just fell down onto the sand and sobbed.
“Theresa?” Howie’s voice called as he placed his hand on my shoulder.
“No! Get away from me you lying, cheating pice of---“
“Theresa, please! I’m sorry!” he cut me off.
“Please what? Please forgive you for lying to me and for making me believe that I was the one you loved and the one that you wanted to spend the rest of your life with? Is that it?” I screamed at him.
The tears had stopped by now and all that was left in place of sadness and hurt was hatred and anger.
“Theresa, I do love you,” he said taking a step toward me, reaching his hand up to caress my cheek.
I shoved his hand away from my face. “Just stop, Howie. I wanna go home. Take me to the hotel,” I demanded.
We didn’t speak the entire way back to the hotel.
Howie opened the door to our room and I went in to gather my stuff.
“What are you doing?” he asked bewildered.
“I’m going to stay with Kelly and Vic. Goodbye!” I yelled, taking my bags and slamming the door shut.
