Snow Drifts-Chapter 21

By: Kara

Almost everyone wanted to help. All except Kevin. He didn't want to leave Mary.
"Kev, you can write to her. There's no way my mom can take 2 more people in the van!" Laney replied. Kevin wasn't satisfied.
"I'm gonna stay. I really like her and I really wanna get to know her more" he explained. Everyone protested, but Kevin was set on his decision.
"Come back on Saturday and the buss'll be here to take us to Edmonton" he explained. The others saw no use in trying to get Kevin to come.

After dinner, everyone gathered in front of the fireplace. Laney and Brian were talking when they saw a figure looming over them. Brian looked up and saw a guy standing in front of them. He stood up.
"Hi! I'm Brian Littrell" he exclaimed, sticking out his hand to their visitor. The guy didn't shake his hand.
"Yeah whatever. I'm Richard Collins. But I don't care about names. I just wanted to tell you to stop bothering these girls. They're like half your age!" he growled. Brian was shocked. He took a step back. Laney jumped up beside Brian.
"I'm not half his age! I'm 18! And who are you to say who he can 'bother'?!" she yelled. Richard laughed.
"It doesn't matter what your age is. But these guys will never see you again. They're just leading you on. Just wanted to inform you" he snarled. Then Richard walked off. Laney cringed up her face. Brian was insulted.
"Laney. I'm not leading you on. I wanna see you again after this week" he said. Laney waved her hand.
"I know you do, but Richard sure doesn't" she said. Then she smiled. "Hey Nick!" Laney yelled. Nick looked up at her.
"Wha?" he asked. Laney giggled.
"Here comes that girl that loves you!" she exclaimed, pointing to the girl coming over to them. It was Kristina, Jason's sister. She was blushing when everyone looked at her. She walked up to Nick and smiled.
"Hi Nick!" she exclaimed. Nick waved. "Hi Kristina" he said. Kristina squealed happily.
"You remember my name?!" she cried. Nick nodded. Kristina suddenly remembered her purpose for why she came over.
"Laney. Jason wanted me to give you a message" she announced, turning to Laney. Brian groaned.
"What does he want now?" he whined. Kristina cringed up her face.
"Nothing. But he says he's sorry for something that he won't say. And he says he went home. All his stuff is gone" she explained. Laney sighed and Brian rubbed his nose. Then Kristina waved goodbye to everyone and ran off to her parents.
"Finally he did something right!" Laney said. Brian laughed.

*THE NEXT MORNING*

"I wish we could stay for the rest of the week!" Laney whined, zipping up her suitcase. It was 7:45 and the girls were done their packing.
"I know! But at least the guys are coming with us!" Ashley exclaimed. KC stopped packing and looked at her friends.
"Can you guys believe what is happening?" she asked, smiling. Ashley and Laney shook their heads happily.
"You guys are going out with Brian and AJ. But I'm the only one without a guy. Nick flirts and stares at me, but he doesn't do anything about it!" she exclaimed. Laney hugged her.
"He'll come around. He's just committment-scared or something. I'll get Brian to talk to him" she said. KC shook her head.
"No, don't. Let Nick figure it out for himself. I just hope he does it before the week is over" she replied, frowning.
