Jason flung the door open, and turned on the bathroom light. Brian flinched and closed his eyes, awaiting an outburst from Jason. Instead, he heard an annoyed sigh. Brian opened his eyes to see Jason closing the door to the bathroom.
"If she was here, you'd be dead" Jason snarled. He stormed out of Brian's room, slamming the door. Brian checked the peephole and saw Jason entering the elevator. Then he rushed to the bathroom. Laney stood in the doorway, tears streaming down her cheeks.
"He almost saw me!" she cried. Brian hugged her and stroked her hair.
"He didn't though" Brian stepped back. "Where were you hiding anyway?" he asked. Laney brushed a tear from her cheek.
"There's a tiny closet by the shower. I heard him open the shower curtain. I thought he'd open the closet door too. But fortunately, he didn't. I heard him yelling at you, are you okay?" Laney replied. Brian nodded.
"Yeah I'm fine. He's not scary, just twice my size is all. We should get Kev after him!" he joked. Laney giggled.
"Do you wanna finished watching the movie?" she asked. Brian nodded. They had to rewind the video a bit to get back to where they left off. Once they were seated in front of the TV again, Laney put her hand on Brian's arm.
"When can we tell the others?" she asked. Brian looked at Laney, he put his arm around her shoulders.
"Probably tomorrow. But let's forget about that for now" Brian replied. Laney smiled at him. She snuggled up close and watched the movie, trying to get Jason off her mind.
By 10:30, the movie was over. Brian took the tape out and turned off the TV. He helped Laney to her feet.
"What do you wanna do now?" he asked. Laney shrugged and sat down on the edge of Brian's bed. Brian smiled at her and sat beside her. Laney's eyes popped wide open when she realized what she was doing. She jumped off the bed and wrapped her arms around the waist.
"Brian. That's going a little overboard. We've only been together for a few hours. I'm not ready for that" she blurted out. Brian's eyebrows narrowed when he realized what Laney was talking about.
"WHAT?! I WASN'T EVEN THINKING ABOUT THAT!" he yelled, standing up. Laney took a step back, feeling suddenly scared.
"Look, I'm gonna go to bed now" she replied, walking to the door. Brian rushed beside her.
"I'm sorry for yelling at you Laney. I really am. Please stay" he said. Laney looked at the floor, then back at Brian. She shook her head.
"I really do feel tired. It's been a long day. Two boyfriends in one day is a big thing, you know" Laney joked. Brian didn't laugh, he just looked at Laney.
"I'm your boyfriend?" he asked. Laney smiled.
"Yeah, I guess you are" she replied. Brian grinned and licked his lips.
"Good" he said. They kissed good-night and Laney left. Brian closed the door behind her and smiled. Laney had made it easy to find out exactly where they stood.
Laney opened her door and locked it behind her. She truly was tired. And she knew if she talked to the others, she'd end up telling them about Brian and her. And she didn't want to tell them yet. Laney changed into her pyjamas and climbed into bed. But she couldn't fall asleep; she kept picturing Jason trying to hurt her. She had no idea where thought came from; she feared it was another of her premonitions...
The 'premonitions' stayed with Laney in her dreams. She had a dream about Jason chasing her down the lodge hall, with a bat. She woke up right when the hall came to an end, with a start. She was sitting up in her bed, beads of sweat rolling down her face. The other girls were asleep in their beds. Laney hugged her knees and started crying. The shear fear of the dream stuck with her still. She knew she needed to get to Brian. She slowly crept out of her room. She looked both ways down the hall, checking for Jason before she closed her door. Laney ran to the elevator. It automatically opened when she hit the down button. It was only a floor down to Brian's room, but it seemed like forever. The elevator door finally opened. Laney stepped out into the hall, and looked around the any sign of movement - there was none. She ran down the hall to Brian's door. She knocked on it, softly. She heard a murmur from the other side.
"Brian! It's Laney! Open the door!" she whispered. There was a turn of locks and the door finally opened. Brian stood in the doorway, only wearing boxers. He led her inside and locked the door.
"What's wrong?" he asked. Laney started crying again and flung her arms around Brian's shoulders. He held her tightly.
"It's Jason" she mumbled. Brian pulled back and his expression turned cold.
"What did he do to you?" he snarled. Laney shook her head.
"Nothing. I had the worst dream about him though. He was chasing me down a hall with a bat. It wouldn't have been that scary if I don't get premonitions. You know, those visions you get right before something happens? I know they're somewhat real because right before I came here, I had a dream that I met you guys and you fell in love with me. I'm scared that Jason will really try and hurt me" she explained. Brian rubbed his sleepy eyes.
"I'll make sure he doesn't hurt you. Kevin's right across the hall too. I bet he'd protect you if I can't" he reassured. Laney nodded and rubbed her arms.
"I don't wanna go back to my room" she replied. Brian nodded.
"Okay. You take my bed. There's a cot in the closet, I'll sleep on that" he explained. Laney walked over to the bed and climbed under the covers. She tucked them up to her chin and closed her eyes. She could hear Brian setting up the cot.
