A while later Nick’s Durango stopped in front of AJ’s house and mine. “Thanks Nick for dinner. It was really yummy!” I smiled.
“No problem,” he smiled back at me. I could only see the sparkle in his eyes because it was dark outside.
“Ya know what?” I asked, suddenly thinking of an idea.
“What?” Nick questioned.
“Remember that girl I work with, Anne? You guys should go out! You would have so much fun together,” I proposed my idea, thinking of how cute the two would look together.
“I dunno Lex…” he said doubtful.
“Oh c’mon Nick! It’s not like you’re going to marry the girl! Just one date…” I pleaded. I wanted to see Nick happy and with a nice girl—he deserved that, especially after everything that had happened in his love life lately.
Nick paused and thought about my idea for a moment. Finally he agreed, “Ok, fine, I’ll go out with…what’s her name, Anne?”
“Yes! Aww…Nick you’re going to love her. She is so sweet and pretty,” I smiled, feeling very proud of myself for having thought of this idea.
“Alright, I’ll call her tomorrow. What’s her number?” he asked grinning.
I jotted down Anne’s number for Nick, gave him a kiss on the cheek, told him goodnight, and walked into the house. I unlocked the door and walked in to find all the lights out and my boyfriend nowhere in sight.
I had become accustomed to walking into a nice warm house to find my gorgeous boyfriend lounging on the couch to greet me, but instead only the lonely silence greeted me. I flipped on the chandelier in the dining room and sat my purse down. I walked into the kitchen and grabbed a bottled water out of the refridgerator and headed upstairs to my bedroom. When I got to the top of the stairs, I noticed a small light at the end of the hallway. I crept quietly to the end of the dark hallway and noticed that the light was coming from AJ’s partially open door. I gently pushed the door open so that I could take a peek inside. I found AJ stretched across his bed snoozing peacefully. I smiled adoringly at who I now knew for sure was the love of my life. I tiptoed over to his bed and sat my water down on his nightstand. I bent down beside of him and studied his face. His short hair was sort of spiky and was for once, his natural color. AJ’s soft, long eyelashes curled just perfectly around his beautiful eyes that were now closed. His goatee was intricately shaved into a design created only by my boyfriend himself. AJ’s lips were completely sealed and were a light shade of crimson. I reached my left arm up and ran my fingers through his jet-black hair. I ran my right index finger over his full lips and then placed my hand on top of his, that was lying across his chest.
“AJ honey, I know you can hear me, but I doubt you’ll remember this in the morning. I want you know that I love you, and only you. Baby, you are my fire, my one desire. I’m so sorry that I ever made you doubt my love for you. That will never ever happen again, if you’ll just give me another chance. I love you. Sweet dreams,” I whispered standing up kissing him lightly on the cheek. I placed my hand on his face so that his goatee rubbed against the palm of my hand, then I let my hand trail along his neck and across his chest as I turned to leave. Just as I turned my back to my boyfriend, his hand reached up to grab mine. I spun around startled to find AJ’s big beautiful brown eyes looking straight into my eyes.
I smiled as tears welled up into my eyes out of joy. “You heard me didn’t you?”
AJ grinned and nodded, tugging my hand so that I would sit on the bed beside of him.
“AJ, I’m so-“ I began, but AJ silenced me by placing his finger over my mouth.
“You’ve said enough,” he smiled. “I love you, too. Alexus, I don’t ever want to lose you. You’re my sweet honey.” I giggled a bit and brushed away a tear of happiness with my hand. AJ reached up and lovingly brushed away another warm tear rolling down my cheek and tucked a piece of blonde hair behind my ear. I took his hand and held it close to my heart.
“I don’t ever want to lose you either. I love you so much!” AJ sat up and lifted my chin so that my green eyes met his brown ones. He leaned in slowly and our lips met leading into a warm, tender kiss. We lied down beside of one another in AJ’s bed and once again, like so many times before I fell asleep in his loving arms. We were both secure in our minds and most importantly, in our hearts that we were with the one that we truly loved and always would.
