Learning to Live-Chapter 3
By: Stephanie
"Maryanne, don't scream. We have a problem" she whispered as one of the masked men approached the counter. Stephanie noticed that the other 3 were walking among the Boys and their entourage demanding that wallets be opened and money be handed over. Maryanne already had her register open when the guy waved his gun in Stephanie's face and demanded that she open her register. Maryanne was already dropping her cash in the bag that sat between the registers. Her hands were shaking. Stephanie began to empty
her cash drawer.
"What about them other registers?" the gunmen asked Maryanne when she finished her register.
She was to scared to answer, so Stephanie told him, "The manager emptied those before he left."
The gunman grabbed his cash bag and motioned for them to come up front. Carly chose that inopportune time to poke her head around the corner. The gunmen ordered Stephanie to get the other employees out of the kitchen and bring them up front. She walked into the kitchen and briefly explained the situation to Carly, Phillip, and Charles as they walked upfront.
By that point, things had gotten worse. One of the gunmen apparently had recognized Nick because his "little sister's room was a shrine to him." The head gunman, the one who had the register cash, now had the brilliant idea to kidnap the Backstreet Boys and get ransom money for them.
The gunmen herded the 5 employees, the Backstreet Boys, Aaron, Fatima Robinson, and the BSB band, crew, and drivers out of the resteraunt. Once
outside, everyone was ordered to get on the bus they had gotten off of. The head gunmen said he wanted the "mouthy" employee, Stephanie, to get on the bus with him and the Boys. He sent Carly and Charles on one bus
and Maryanne and Phillip on another. One gunman was going to be on each of the buses. Mac's bus was going to lead as usual.
Stephanie walked up the steps onto the bus with the gunman behind her. She found the Backstreet Boys sitting on a couch and some chairs scattered around in the front "room" of the tour bus. "Let me tell you that I did want to see your tour bus guys, but I never considered this as the scenario to how I would get on here," she told them as she took a seat
on the end of the couch next to Aaron.
"Shut up, girl," the gunman growled. Stephanie glared at him but didn't say anything more. The gunman sent Kevin up front to wake up Mac and get him to start the bus. Then he "requested" that the group move to the rec area in the back of the bus. He also had the foresight to demand that the Boys hand their cell phones over. "Wouldn't want you to call the cops,
now would we?" he snarled as he shut the door behind him to join Mac up front.
Brian, AJ, Howie, Kevin, Nick, and Stephanie shared a look of despair as Aaron began to cry.
