Here We Go-Chapter 14

By: Chesa

Chesa tried to hold back tears as she drove her GMC Suburban up I-95 North, but hearing her friend Amber sob in the passenger seat beside her set her off into a flood of tears. Chesa and Amber were on their way to Albany Trauma Center and Hospital and had been in the car for an hour and fifty-three minutes. It was 11:35, and it would take another good three and a half hours to get to Albany, but they had to. Amber sat sobbing, and thinking of the events leading up to that dreadful phone call she received.
Chesa had gone to take a shower and asked her to answer the phone because Brian was supposed to call her. Brian called when Chesa was still in the shower and Amber and Brian had had a short conversation before she asked him to tell Nick that she loved him and told him bye. When Brian didn't call back in ten minutes like he had promised, Amber thought nothing of it... but an hour later she received a phone call; the phone call.
Now she and Chesa were driving up to Albany, New York. Chesa was scared as all hell. Their plane had crashed and the captain was able to get the message along with their coordinates out to a landing strip before they had crashed...the pilot had died, but the guys lived, although most of them were in servere condition. The nurse over the phone wouldn't give specifics on their conditions, so Amber and Chesa had no clue of how they were doing... worse off, they couldn't get a hold of Rachelle. They had tried calling her and paging her, but she didn't answer her page, or pick up the phone, so they just left a message for her to call them on Amber's cell phone.

Chesa turned off the highway and onto an exit to another highway. Before crossing over though, she stopped at a Wendy's.
"What are we doing here?" Amber asked, sitting up and wiping her eyes.
"I-I figure we should eat something, and go to the bathroom so we don't have to head too far off the highway later." Chesa replied, stuttering and sniffling. Amber nodded and sniffled. When they went up to order their food, they heard some girls in the back that worked there talking.
"Did you hear the news? The Backstreet Boys' manager just announced that they were in a plane crash!" One said.
"Really?" asked the other.
Chesa and Amber almost burst into a river of tears right there, but held them back. They got their food, headed to the bathroom, then left. About three hours later they pulled into the Albany Trauma Center and Hospital, and with all the strength that they had left, ran into the hospital and to were they could talk to someone and find out what exactly was going on.
