'Nick!' Mrs. Carter yelled. 'Are you up yet?'

'Just a few more minutes mum!' Nick cried.

'Nickolas Gene Carter! Get your butt out of that bed this instant!'

'Yeah mom, I'm up.'

The world still looks as dreadful as it did last night, Nick thought and dragged his half sleeping body out of bed. He rubbed his aching temples and forced himself to look in the mirror.

'My God!' he cried. 'I look like... a train ran over my head last night! I'm a total mess! Why did I stay up so late?!' He ran into the bathroom and stepped into the shower. While the hot water ran down his back, Nick closed his eyes and almost fell a sleep again, until...

'Nick!' Aaron yelled. 'Wake up!'

Nick opened his eyes and stared at his brother who had just bumped into the bathroom.

'Yeah, yeah! I'm comin'! Chill man!' he said.

'No, hurry. I've gotta go to school too ya know!' Aaron said in defense.

'Okay, I'm ready.' Nick sighed and stepped out of the shower, pushing his brother in.

'Thanks Chaos!' Aaron cried.

'Yeah, whatever.' Nick said, wrapped a towel around his waist and walked back into his room.

His walked into his closet and picked out a set of casual clothing. He wanted to look good for his first day.

Across the room from the closet was his dresser. Next to spray cans and magazines was a picture.

It featured the Backstreet Boys, 3 months before they broke up. Nick walked over to the dresser and picked up the picture. He stared into his best friends eyes as a tear trickled down his face.

'I miss you Brian.' He whispered. Memories of that horrible day came flashing back into his mind.

FLASHBACK...

It all happened after a show in Germany. They where all tired, and a little edgy too.

'Man, what a show.' Nick said, plopping down on a couch, backstage.

'No really. You're kidding.' Brian said, joining him.

'These things get harder every time. Can't imagine why...' Nick said, continuing.

'And it showed on stage too.' AJ commented.

'Well gee thanks, J.'

'Don't blame me. I'm telling you the truth. You were dancing like an moron.' AJ added.

'What the hell is your problem?!' Nick yelled at him.

'My problem is that you're a nineteen year old fucked up teen, who needs to get move his lazy butt a bit. All of us others work out every single stinkin' day, while you lay in front on the TV eating chips!' AJ cried.

'And you're any better than me? I happen to work out a lot! But you would never know, because you're always too busy makin' out with your lame ass girlfriend.' Nick shot back.

'Hey, watch it there bud! Don't you dare touch my girl!' AJ screamed.

'Oh goody, I'm so scared!' Nick smirked.

'Come on guys, calm down!' Howie said.

'And would we wanna do that Howie? You weren't much better tonight. You missed more than half of your lines. Is it so hard to do solos for you? Should Brian and I go back to doing everything?!' Nick snapped.

'I hafta agree D.' AJ commented. 'You did fuck up a lot.'

'Like you've got the right to talk, J.' Brian yelled next, 'You didn't sing one line either. You're not even able of singing any more. You scream!'

'No, but you're mister perfect aren't you!' Nick yelled.

'Oh shut up you dumb fuck! You think you're all that, but le me tell ya somethin' bud! You suck!' Brian snapped back at Nick.

Just then, Kevin walked into the room. 'Will you guys just be quiet? I can hear your fucked up insults three rooms away.'

'You get a fucking life, Kevin. Go find your freakin' mama or somethin'. You don't belong here! You're a fucked up faggy country boy, and you dance like someone shoved something sticky up your fucking ass.' AJ commented.

Nick nodded in agreement. He was so pissed, he didn't care about anything no more. All he felt like was making everybody miserable. And he wasn't alone on that part.

'Guys, stop.' Howie cried again.

'Why should we Howie? You don't want anyone to get hurt do you? I've had enough with these fucked up insults. A lot of words, but no actions. You guys have been like this since day one! It wouldn't matter if we added a bit of this.' Brian said, punching Nick hard.

'That's it!' Howie said, pulling Brian away from him.

'You're such a fucking wuss!' Nick yelled at Howie, shoving him hard, then punching Brian back. Howie pounced on Nick, but he threw him off. Now they were all fighting. Kevin and AJ were at each other.

Nick, Brian and Howie were at each others throats also. Howie grabbed Nick and began to punch him in the stomach, Nick punched back, then he shoved Brian towards AJ making him land on top of him.

'Fuck gay choir boy, keep your fat ass away from me!' AJ cried.

'You want some of this!' Kevin yelled to Brian, who was staring at him.

'I can't believe that you're my cousin.' he said to Kevin, 'All that fucked up shit you've ever said to me, I'm gonna make you pay for all of it.'

'Yah right! As if! You're no bigger than that stupid rat of a dog of yours.' Nick snorted.

'I could beat you up too.' Brian exclaimed.

'Ha, I'd like to see you try!' Nick snickered.

'You guys are both fucking weak, you're absolutely pathetic.' Kevin said.

They where all beating each other up, when suddenly someone grabbed Nick from behind. It was Jeff, one of the guys from management. The other four guys from management grabbed the guys. Nick struggled to get away. He didn't seem to be satisfied until any of them was severely injured.

'Whoa you guys, what the hell is going on in here?' Mike asked.

'What's going on here? Nick, the fucking gay boy pansy that he is, started a fight.' AJ said.

'What!?' Nick screamed, 'You're the fucking moron J, you decided to bring up a few things about my marvelous performance.' Nick tried to get away from Jeff, but he was strong.

'Well, J's god damn right Nick.' Brian commented, 'You did suck tonight.'

'Whoa, did my ears deceive me?! Did Brian just sin.' Howie smirked, AJ and Nick laughed evilly.

'That's it guys! I've had it with you!' Jimmy, one of the managers yelled, 'I have never ever seen you guys fight like this before! I want to know what you guys are doing, now!'

'Well my dear Jimmy-boy. I'd hate to be the one to break it to ya, but I think we've come to the end of the Backstreet Fucking Gay Boys.' AJ commented.

'Is that right, boys?' Mike asked.

Nick looked at the other boys, and one by one they agreed. Everyone stared at him, to answer.

'Yeah.' He whispered, then ran out of the room. The Backstreet Boys had come to an end.

Management arranged a get together a week later.

'What happened to us Howie?' Brian asked, holding his head in his hands.

'I don't know Brian.' Howie said. 'It seemed only yesterday that we where singing and having fun on stage, like nothing was wrong...'

'And now... last week we where fighting. Hating each other and screaming all day long.' Brian whispered.

'Let's just say: we've had our good times, it's over.' Howie said. 'Why where we here in the first place?'

'We're supposed to meet Kevin, AJ and Nick here.' Brian replied.

'Oh yeah, right. Then where are they!' Howie exclaimed. Just then, the other 3 walked in. AJ's face was pale, due to a lack of sleep. Kevin had been crying, he tried to mask it but it showed anyway. And Nick, he seemed fine. Brian even thought he saw him smile a bit.

'Hey guys.' Howie said, trying really hard to sound friendly. 'How've ya been?'

'Don't -how've ya been me- Howie!' AJ exclaimed. 'You didn't seem to friendly last week! So just shut the fuck up!'

'J, relax man.' Kevin said and pushed him into a chair. AJ immediately got up and stepped up to Kevin.

'Touch me again and I'll kill ya!' he cried. Kevin grinned and give AJ a playful push. No harm done, he thought. But AJ took it the wrong way.

He raised his hand and punched Kevin in his stomach, causing him to fall down. 'Guys!' Jim exclaimed. 'We're here to talk like adults, not fight like kids.'

'Yeah, right.' Kevin said, got up from the ground and sat down in a chair.

AJ got up from his and walked towards a chair across the room. He wanted to be as far away from the others as he could possible come.

'What happened to you guys last week?' Mike asked.

'Duh! We had a fight.' Nick replied.

'We're finished, over.' AJ added.

'So I guess you guys still feel the same way as you did last week?' Jim figured. They all nodded.

'It's better this way.' Brian thought.

'I agree.' Howie said. 'We've had out glory years. It's over.'

'So, you're breaking up... for good?' Mike suggested. They all nodded.

'Then I guess this is goodbye.' Kevin said.

'Yep, it is.' Nick said, trying to mask the smile on his face. He didn't mean to smile, but he couldn't stop himself from being happy.

'You're gonna give it all up without a fight?' Jim asked,

'Another fight?!' AJ smirked. Jim shot him and evil face.

'We've had our fight last week Jim.' Kevin said. 'Like Howie said, it's over. We've had our glory years. I'll never forget them though.'

'So now all of a sudden you agree with Howie!' Nick yelled at Kevin. 'I can't believe you Kevin! One thing's for sure: I am not taking back the things I've said last week. I meant every single one of 'em! I wanna get out of here! Are we ready yet?'

'What's wrong with you guys?!' Mike exclaimed. 'Two weeks ago you where the best of friends. And now... you hate each others guts. I can't believe it.'

'Let's just discuss what we need to discuss. And then let us go our separate ways!' AJ suggested.

'I wanna go home to Leigh.' Brian whispered.

'Kristen is waiting in the car.' Kevin said, shifting in his chair. 'I said it wouldn't take long.'

'This won't take long.' Jim said. They discussed tour details and record labels, but everything ended with one single sentence from a guy, whom they didn't expect to fall out.

'You guys are so fucked up! I'm out of here! Don't bother calling, I'm not home!' Brian exclaimed, got up and walked out, knowing he was probably never gonna see these guys again.

But he didn't care much, he hated them and they hated him. His place was somewhere else.

END OF FLASHBACK...

It all happened really fast. The group broke up, management explained everything to the press. But of course, they couldn't tell the truth. The made up some story about the guys "not being able to coop with the fact of being away from their families so much". It was a stinking lie, but at least the press bought it.

'Nick, honey! Hurry up!' Mrs. Carter exclaimed. 'You're gonna be late!'

'Coming mom.' Nick said, stashed his stuff away and ran downstairs.
