Helen's eyelids fluttered open to the sight of Paul sitting by her side.
Paul smiled. "How are you feeling?" he asked, stroking her hand.
Helen looked around in astonishment. "Paul, what's going on? Where am I? Why are you here?".
"You're in hospital, you just gave birth to our babies,".
Helen started to remember what happened. "Oh yeah, I was at the wedding then I went into labour... that's all I remember...".
"You passed out while we were in the ambulance," Paul informed her. "Well it's all over now,".
Two nurses came in holding the twins. "Here they are," Paul said, a big grin on his face. "Our two sons,".
"Awwww!" Helen cried as she held one and Paul held the other. "What are we going to name them? I like the name Kris,".
"And what about Jamie?" Paul suggested. "I really like that name,".
"Kris and Jamie," Helen smiled, stroking the tiny baby's soft head. "Yeah, I like it!".
Back at Buearley House, everyone was partying. Since they had the house booked for the rest of the day, the guests had decided to make the most of it.
It was early evening and the sun was beginning to set. Most people were still outside, dancing to music and eating the posh gourmet buffet which was situated in a big white marquee.
Sam was sitting on a bench, reflecting over her actions. She had decided that she had done the right thing to stop the wedding.
"We're leaving now," Tasha said, interrupting her thought.
"Off already?" she asked.
"Yeah, Marat has to get back to the tennis tournament,".
"Pete's there," Marat added. "I was talking to him last week and he mentioned you. He said he really enjoyed being with you and would love to see you again,".
"I'm coming with you," Sam announced.
"With us?" Tasha said in shock.
"Yeah, there's no point me sticking around here, I'll come and see Pete,".
Meanwhile, Heather and Ben were sipping Champagne in the marquee, while singing along to 'Take On Me' which was playing over the speakers.
"I was looking forwards to performing here tonight but we can't since Paul's not here," Ben said as he refilled his glass.
"I think we should go and check up on Helen," Heather said. "To make sure she's OK and see the babies,".
"I'll try phoning Paul again," Ben suggested, getting his mobile out.
Paul's mobile was now switched on and he told Ben the good news. "Come and visit us in the morning," he suggested.
It gradually got darker until it was night time. Pretty twinkling silver lights were strung around the marquee.
Ben and Heather slowly danced to 'Never Had A Dream Come True'. "I remember dancing with you to this song at the college leaving party," Ben whispered in Heather's ear. "It was the first time we danced together,".
"I know," Heather whispered back. "Whenever I hear it, it reminds me of that dance,".
Ben slowly smiled and gave her a kiss on the lips. He looked into Heather's eyes. "You mean the world to me," he said sincerely, as the song faded out and '(Everything I Do) I Do It For You' came on. "I would do anything for you Heather,".
Heather couldn't say a word, she just looked into Ben's soulful eyes. She knew he meant every word he was saying.
Ben dropped to his knees and held Heather's hand in his. "Marry me,".
Heather's mouth dropped open. "Marry you?".
"Yes Heather. Will you be my wife?".
"No way,".
Ben's face fell. "Oh.." he trailed off, with tears in his eyes.
Heather laughed. "I was joking! Of course I'll marry you!". She fell into his arms and they hugged tightly.
They sat on an old oak bench underneath the stars. Linda came along holding Nicole. "I think she needs putting to bed now,".
Heather held Nicole in her arms as Ben led her indoors. "Look at us," Ben said proudly. "We're a true family,".
"Yeah," Heather laughed. "The Adams family!".
Paul lay on the bed next to Helen in their private hospital room while the babies slept in a cot next to the bed.
"I'm so proud of you babe," Paul said. "Going through that painful labour! I wouldn't be able to do it, ouch!".
"I'm glad it's over," Helen told him.
"This is the first time we've been together properly since...".
"...We broke up," Helen finished.
"Yeah," Paul sighed. "I'm so angry at myself for what I did to you. If I could, I would turn back time and...".
"You can't turn back time, so stop wishing you could. What's done is done," Helen said sadly.
"I never meant to hurt you," Paul said, looking straight into her eyes. "I've learnt my lesson now. I'll never be unfaithful again,".
Helen could tell he meant it. "I know you won't Paul," she said softly.
Paul's eye's lit up. "So you'll give it another try?".
Helen nodded. "Yes,".
"But I don't just want to be your boyfriend," Paul continued.
"Oh?".
"I want to be your husband,". He put his hand in his pocket and produced the diamond ring he had got Helen in New York. When they had broken up she had posted it back to him. Paul had kept it with him all the time.
Helen gasped. "Paul...".
He flashed her his heartmelting grin and started to sing. "The one thing that I'm scared of is losing hold of you...".
Helen laughed. "Yes Paul, I'll marry you," she said as he slipped the ring back on her finger.
