Chapter Eight

Greta clutched her seat as the plane landed. She sighed. "I'll be sure to take a bus from now on."

"Not a bad idea," Nick agreed as he helped Greta with her backpack. "Mind if I walk you inside?"

"I'd like that."

Nick took her aside once they reached the baggage claim. "Greta, I have to ask you something."

"Go ahead, Nick."

"Would you like to get a bite to eat or something? When we both have time."

Greta stared at the ground. "That's not such a good idea, Nick."

"Oh," was all Nick could managed to say.

Greta squeezed his hand. "Goodbye, Mr. Carter, thank you for helping me through my first flight."

He nodded unable to look her in the eyes. He turned around to find Howie's camera infront of him. "Did you get that on tape?" Nick mumbled.

"No," Howie assured him.

AJ noticed Greta leaving. "Yo, Nick, isn't that the redhead you were chatting with?"

Nick glanced up to see Greta next to the guy in the picture. "Yeah, that's Greta."

"Didn't you ask her out?" Howie asked.

"I did," Nick sighed, "but she said 'no.' Maybe her brother would've had a fit or somethin'."

"Brother?" AJ repeated.

"Yeah, I think that redheaded dude is her brother."

AJ wrinkled his nose. "Since when do brothers and sisters do that?"

The blonde turned his head to see Greta kissing the redhead. He gasped. "Oh, man! She did have a boyfriend!"

AJ laughed. "Howie, did you get that on tape? That is so lame, no one will even care about my Dopey doll anymore! Thanks!"

Nick sat down. "Oh, sure, AJ. I just made myself look a total idiot on MTV so you wouldn't be embrassed."

Howie laughed. "It could be worse, Nick."

AJ tapped his shoulder. "Relax, pal. Look at that fine brunette over there. Go say hi."

Nick stood up. "You're right, man. I can do this."

Slowly, he made his way to the brunette. He extended his hand. "Hi, I'm Nick."

She shook his hand. "I'm Gertude. Nice to meet you." Suddenly she smiled. "Excuse me."

She ran off embracing in a tall man arms. Nick threw his arms up in disgust.

"I am never dating again!"
