Prologue
"Nick..." Jessilyn began, as her boyfriend of almost a year, Nick Carter, began to kiss her neck, "I don't think we should be doing this."
"Why not?" asked Nick, pulling away for only a moment.
"Because...we just shouldn't."
"Are you worried that your parents are going to find out?"
"Not really...it's just that I don't know if I'm ready yet."
"You don't want to do this?"
"I do want to do this," said Jessilyn, "I really do."
"Then what's the problem?"
"Nothing, Nick, there's no problem." She took a deep break as Nick continued to kiss her."Get this kid out of me!" Jessilyn shrieked, overcome by another contraction.
"Relax," her mother saild gently, "Breathe."
"Relax?! How can I relax when I'm being torn apart?" Jessilyn screamed as she felt the pain take over once again.
Her parents looked at each other helplessly. Seven months earlier, their only child had come to them with tears streaming down her cheeks. She had tried to calmly tell them that she had found out that morning that she was pregnant. Through the months that followed, they had tried to support her as much as they possibly could.
"Shhh," her mother said, smoothing her hair back, as Jessilyn writhed in pain on the bed.
"Please," begged Jessilyn, "Please just get it out."
Her mother knew that giving birth to a child was hard, but she also knew that it must be even harder for a fifteen year old girl.
"It'll be over soon," Jessilyn's father told her comfortingly, "Just hold on a little while more."
"I don't want to hold on a little while more," Jessi snapped, "I want it to be over NOW! I never want him to touch me again!"
"He won't, Sweetie," said Jessi's mother, "He won't. You won't have to see him again if you don't want to."
Just then, the doctor entered the room and checked Jssi. "Okay," she said, "You're ready to have this baby."Half an hour later, the doctor laid a beautiful baby boy into Jessilyn's arms. Tears streamed down her face as she held her son for the first time. The proud new grandparents beamed at each other over their daughter's head.
"Don't worry," Jessilyn whispered to her son, "I'll never abandon you." She thought about Nick and what kind of life they would be having if she had just told him before they broke up.
