(Alright folks, I called up Canada and asked them….very sweetly I thought!….if I could possibly have control over their actors and expensive camera equipment for one day. They um…..well the outcome was that I decided not to do it….and I went home. But that stinks for you guys, because you’re just going to have to "bhear" with me and use those bright imaginations of yours so that you can see what I’m trying to get you to see okay?? Goodie!! On with the….promo…)
[Ahem…first, begin the "movie-preview-music" of your choice.]
During a time of change…
[Scene: A much older Dan with a sheriff’s badge on his vest, and a tall man that we’ve never met before.]
Man: Sheriff, them slaves just bought the old Coalster property.
Dan: (with a serious yet bemused look) Foggs, they ain’t slaves no more – they’re free. And it’s time folks like you start treatin’ them that way!
With danger on the horizon…
[Scene: Jo, Nick, and an older African-american man, clearly a priest of some kind. Amy and Meg are in the background.]
Man: Like I said before….men like Foggs won’t stop until we’re all gone.
[Scene: Several people on horses, standing on a low hill at night. We can’t see all of their faces, but we can make out Nat and Dan. Also, we see just what they’re seeing: a burning barn.]
Multiple shouts of: FIRE!
[Scene: It’s night and Jo is walking out of a building, down the street. This is clearly in town. She drops her glove, bends down to pick it up, and is then grabbed from behind.]
One family’s strength will be tested…
[Scene: Jo standing outside of a building in town, a somber look on her face. Her apron is splattered with blood. Nick is across the street starring back, his gaze just as intent.]
[Scene: Dan and Nat on the outskirts of town.]
Nat: You could have told me!
Dan: Look who’s talking!!
Nat: This isn’t like when we were kids Dan! I don’t need you to protect me anymore – I don’t need you at all!
[Scene: Meg and Jo talking while Nick is listening, unseen.]
Jo: He doesn’t…..touch me anymore Meg…
Meg: Well Jo, certain things can become inapprop-
Jo: That’s not what I mean. I mean he doesn’t even act like…like…I think that perhaps his feelings for me have changed.
Meg: More importantly, have your feelings for him changed?
[Alright folks! Here comes the most dramatic move music you can think of. Put it on now!! Come on, it really helps…."set the mood." LOL…]
[Scene: A beautiful house, on a beautiful day, we’re talking country delight here folks! Can we make a guess on who’s house this is in the west…hmm….]
Jo’s voice during showing of picture: So many things can change in one year.
[Scene: Franz and Jo on a front porch at night. He looks about ready to break down and cry as she envelops him in her arms.]
[Scene: Nat sitting in a chair next to Nan, who is lying on the bed. We can’t tell if she’s sleeping…of if there’s something else keeping her from waking up. (HINT =) The room is dark; light comes from only a few candles set up around the bed. Nat gently leans over and kisses Nan’s forehead.]
[Scene: Jo and Dan in the "sheriff’s office" aka "jail."]
Dan: You taught us all real good Mrs. Jo, but I’m just worried that when the time comes for me to stand up for everythin’ I believe in….that I just won’t be able to do it alone.
Jo: You don’t have to do it alone…your family is with you, every step of the way.
Come read the crazy laughter…
[Scene: Nat and some new guy. Nat’s giving him a look of GREAT dislike…as the man flashes a weak smile.]
Guy: I’ve always called her Annie, ever since the first day we met…
Nat: Yeah? Well..uh…I’ve always called her Nan…and uh….she never threw a pie in my face….
[Scene: Meg and Harrison at train station in town. She has an ultra-shocked look on her face and he’s got all his bags with him.]
Harrison: I have your glove here.
Meg: My glove?!?!?!
Harrison: Yes…this…is your glove…isn’t it?
Meg: You came half-way across the country to bring me a glove?!?!
Harrison: Well…I thought you might…um…need it.
Come admire the darling love…
[Scene: Nick and Jo walking under a grow of trees at night…under the stars….*sigh*]
Nick: Even thought it’s only been a year Jo…my feelin’s have changed. A lot.
Jo: I see…
Most importantly, come learn their lessons…
[Scene: Jo and a very, very…very, very old African-american woman having tea.]
Jo: Believe me, I realized long ago that time is one of our most precious gifts.
Old Woman: But my dear! Have you never realized the one thing time cannot change?!
[Scene: Nick and Jo….with their "fighting faces" on as usual…*grin*]
Nick: Jo, this ain’t your fight!
Jo: You’re right Nick, it isn’t my fight. It’s the fight. Between right and wrong. And I for one am going to stand with them tomorrow, whether they think I should or not!
Nick: Even if it means you getting’ hurt?
[Scene: After a brief fade into black so we can all blink…hee hee…that was a joke….ANYWAY, we now see Nick, clearly next to a barn, putting a saddle on a horse.]
Nick: Here we go again…
Western Christmas
(Coming Christmas Day, to a Lindsey site near you….)
