Susan Harris, daugther of John and Sukey Herring Harris of Wayne County, NC, was born in 1812. She was one of seven daughters born to John and Sukey Harris.
Susan is listed in the her father's estate settlement records as Susan Harris until 1832. After 1832 she is listed as Susan Lilly. But there is not record of any marriage in Wayne County of a Susan Harris to a Mr. Lilly. Susan Lilly was listed as the head of the family in the 1840 Wayne County census. She was listed again in 1850 as the head of family. The children listed in her family in 1850 were Catherine Lillly, W.D. Lilly, and Gibson Lilly.
