A Security-- (1) Recognize, properly handle, mark, safeguard, and store classified information. (2) Employ proper procedures for destruction of classified material. (3) Train subordinates and inspect facilities and procedures. 120
B Map Reading-- (1) Read, interpret, and use marginal information on a map. (2) Locate a point on a map using the Military Grid Reference System and geographic coordinates. (3) Measure ground distance and determine the elevation/relief on a map. (4) Identify terrain features on a map. (5) Measure azimuths, use Declination Diagram, and compute back azimuths on a map. (6) Locate an unknown point on a map by polar coordinates, intersection, and resection. 600
C Photogrammertry-- (1) Make measurements on vertical aerial imagery: (a) Compute scale by determining the relationship of imagery to an object of known dimension, relationship of focal length of a camera to the altitude of the aircraft, and the relationship of imagery to a map. (b) Determine linear distance on imagery. (c) Compute height by relief displacement, shadow proportion, and parallax methods. (2) Make measurements on oblique imagery. (3) Make measurements on Panoramic Imagery. (4) Determine imagery coverage of an area. 720
D Image Interpretation Procedures-- (1) Read and use alphanumeric, numeric, and binary code data on imagery. (2) Plot a pilot's trace; vertical aerial mission; radar (SLAR) imagery; infrared imagery; oblique, panoramic, and high altitude imagery. (3) Prepare/maintain master cover trace; imagery overlay; point, area, and route overlays; and enemy situation maps. (4) Construct uncontrolled and semi-controlled mosaics. (5) Brief and debrief aircrews. (6) Present image interpretation briefings. (7) Prepare and maintain file/library systems. (8) Arrange liaison with other units/agencies. E Interpretation-- (1) Use II Keys and References to identify specific objects/conditions. (2) Interpret vertical aerial imagery, radar, infrared, oblique, panoramic, and high altitude imagery. F Image Interpretation Reports and Requests-- (1) Prepare draft or final copy of hot photo report; initial photo interpretation report; general photo interpretation report; mission report; and supplemental photo interpretation reports. (2) Prepare draft or final copy and extract information from Automated Data Processing Systems/Intelligence Data Handling System (ADPS/IDHS) reports. (3) Prepare target folders and graphic representations of flack analysis. (4) Post/maintain mission status boards/aircraft sensor equipment status boards. (5) Process (distribute and file) aerial reconnaissance surveillance requests. (6) Brief on aerial surveillance capabilities and limitations. (7) Prepare ground surveillance and reconnaissance plans. Special Instructions: Work processes completed in a state or federally recognized apprenticeship program will be accepted upon presentation of proper documentation to the appropriate service school.

Schedule of Related Instruction for the Trade of

Aerial Photograph Interpreter

A total of 432 hours of related instruction is required in order to complete this program. Related instruction credit may be awarded individuals registered in the trade of Aerial Photograph Interpreter taken from an accredited institution, providing the courses are similar to the courses taken for a Aerial Photograph Interpreter program in a community college/vocational school.
