Apprenticeship Program at Pope Air Force Base
Many soldiers who have completed an Apprenticeship Program decide to stay in the military realizing the skills which they have received as a consequence of their Apprenticeship has assisted them in performing their jobs better and has assisted them in receiving promotions. Therefore, you will want to talk to your Unit Renlistment NCO about all the possible opportunities. However if you feel that you choose to separate from the Army, you will want to continue reading.
As a Field Representative for the Apprenticeship Program in Fayetteville NC, our Fort Bragg Apprenticeship Office will also be able to identify for those who have completed the Apprenticeship Program or who are enrolled in the Apprenticeship Program at Fort Bragg those employers in North Carolina who are certified by the N.C. Department of Labor to provide Apprenticeships. These employers will offer the highest pay and recognize the skills which you have developed by completing an Apprenticeship Program. Therefore, you will earn a Journeyman's Wage for the particular Apprenticeship you have completed. As the field representative, you can be supplied with information on Journeyman's wages for any particular trade in the area. Remember that a Journeyman's Wage for a trade such as Carpenter will be different in Fayetteville than in say Charlotte. As the Apprenticeship Consultant for Fort Bragg, you can request a letter from my office which can assist the employer in providing you credit for your work experience and work related (class-room) hours. The letter will show the employer the closeness you are to completing your Apprenticeship. The closer you are to completing means less training the employer will have to provide you; thus, he will be more likely to hire you. Be sure to retain the Original of your log sheets and other material which you submit to our office in your Log Book in order to verify your work in Apprenticeship.
If you are planning to leave North Carolina and if you want the same assistance by a Field Representative in the state in which you are planning to relocate, you need to contact the following agency in order to obtain the address and telephone number of this agency's Field Representative's Office in the city or area of the state in which you will be living. Press here to contact the agency in the state you will be living.
If no State Agency is listed for your state in the above link, then contact the Field Representative for the U.S. Department of Labor. Press here for listing of the U.S. Bureau of Apprenticeship Offices in your state who can help you.
On line, you can learn the median wage for your trade in any particular state by clicking

and then you can
find the median wage for your trade in each state with the state listed first as providing
the greatest median wage for your trade by clicking "to rank this occupation across all states
(by median wage). Remember that those who have completed an Apprenticeship Program
will earn even a higher rate--Journeyman's Wage--than the Median Wage which is listed
on line. You can also press,
here
and then you can find the percentage change of people
in your craft during
a ten year period and then you can find the States ranked in order which will
show the State which is easiest to find a job in your trade to the State which will be hardest
by clicking "To rank this occupation across all states (by percent change).
On line, you can also have the states ranked as to each State's Average
Annual Pay regardless of occupation by clicking

or you can view all the states at the same time as to their unemployment rate by

Remember that if you have not completed your Apprenticeship Program, the letter showing a partial completion from me will be helpful to you if you are separating from the Army.
Also remember that none of the agencies mentioned on this web page can guarantee you a
job. A private employer has the right to choose whomever (s)he feels is the best
candidate. The more of your Apprenticeship that you have completed will help
convince him/her that you are the best candidate. Those who have completed an
Apprenticeship are in the best position of finding a job quickly. Remember that you
are offering the employer a service--not just asking for a job. Other qualities
such as enthusiasm and commitment shown towards the job at your
job interview will impress those who interview you. Generally if you are
uncertain about taking a particular job, the employer will be uncertain too
if he should hire you. The employer will look at you as a risk. To learn
the art of job finding skills, you should consider participating in Fort Bragg's
ACAP progam by calling (910)396-2227 or you can view
Fort Bragg ACAP.
