The eldest member of the BSB’s, Kevin Scott
Richardson was born on October 3, 1972, in Lexington Ky.
Kevin says he
always wanted to be a musican in some capacity, starting with the
times he would sing in church growing up. he and
his cousin, Brian
Littrell, both were a part of music-oriented familys.
Kevin spent the
first nine years of his like on a 10-acre farm, then lived in a modern
log-cabin style home for his next eight years.
During those years he
rode horsees and rode dirt bikes and was active in Little League
Sports. He recived his first keyboard set when he was a
freshman in
High School, and Kevin eventually honed his skills enough to entertain
at restaurants and weddings and to enter local talent contests.
Kevin got his first stage experience in local productions of “Bye Bye
Birde” and “Barefoot In The Park” among others, and he also got a job
as a ballroom dancing instructor. later, however,
Kevin decided to go to
Orlando, Fl., in hopes of getting a break in the entertainment business.
Walt Disney World gave him his first chance, hiring him to play the
character of “Aladdin” on stage and in the theme parks daily parades.
While at that job, Kevin found out about auditions for a new group
called the Backstreet Boys, and his strong voice and dancing skills
earned him a spot. He later contacted his cousin
Brain to get him to
take part.
Kevin cities musicans such as Elton John, Billy Joel, and Sting as being
his major influinces, and he says he’s a big fan of singers who play the
piano. When he’s not writing music or on tour, Kevin enjoys dancing,
playing football and weightlifting.
