Opening Statements
Vandal Hearts is a strategy based RPG. It is the first
of its kind to come out for the Playstation. This game is
about 20 hours long, and there is a significant amount of
characters. It is a fun game to play, and probably
recieved most of its recognition due to the lack of RPGs
for the Playstation.

This game, although not a traditional RPG, is still a
good one. The strategy based fighting requires more
thought than most standard RPGs. When you get more
characters the game really starts to get good. My favorite
aspect of the game, is the upgrading of classes. When you

This game is a decent RPG, although it strays from the
tradition. This isn't a bad thing at all though,
except the fact that there was absolutely no exploration,
even though it's emphasis was on strategic battles. I also
didn't like the fact that you could not go back and fight
any battles, making the game very linear. The fights though
were very entertaining and the story line was decent. The
amount of characters also improved the gameplay, yet it was
frustrating when you forget to move one of your 20 men,
and it ends up costing you an entire match. In addition to
the 20 characters, you can specifically specialize each
character with a special occupation. This game was fun most
of the time, and will keep you playing until it's end.

I wasn't very impressed with Vandal Hearts. It just
isn't the kind of RPG
that I think that I could sit and play for hours on end.
The fighting style
just did not appeal to me. The whole game pretty much was
just lenghly fight
sequences. The game only has about twenty hours of
gameplay. If it isn't
going to have anything but fight sequences, they could have
really improved
on the length of the game. I guess this game could be okay,
you would just
have to be able to adjust from the norm and develop a taste
for it. I just
couldn't do that.

upgrade to a higher "level of enlightnment", that character
that has upgraded, will change his outfit, until
adventually they become a full blown Ninja, Sorcerer, Monk,
Swordsman, etc. The thing I didn't like was how each fight
was forced. You could not optionally fight to gain
experience. This makes the game a little short. The game
can be addictive at times, but it is frustrating having to
start over when you lose a battle. If you lack RPGs at
your home, then give this one a try.
