I am the only person out of the three of us reviewers to own this game, and I must say that it is very fun to play despite a few flaws. But when it comes down to it, isn't a game all about fun? Anyway on with the review. First of all, this game gets hurt in the graphical department. There is a loss of frames, sometimes pretty major, but other then that the actual sprites are done wuite well. Also there is a -little- bit of slowdown sometimes, but definately not enough to hinder the gameplay. In terms of sound, this game was just fine, if not good. Every hit seemed devestating and was nicely done, as well as the many voices throughtout the game as well. Now on with the main part of the game: the actual gameplay. As I said before the tiny bit of slowdown doesn't affect the gameplay at all, as it happens quite rarely. The frame loss does make gameplay seem a bit slower, but again, nothing major. A "new" feature that I liked in this game, which is uncommonly found in others, is the stats of each character. Although not listed anywhere, each character has their strengths and weaknesses. I'm not just talking about, "he's slow, but he takes away alot", I'm also talking about durability! For example Juggernaut is slow and powerful, and realistically has high durability so that things take away less on him. Just like Wolverine has a healing factor which heals 50% of the damage he takes. I also liked the infinity gems, powerups that you get during the battle, and how each person had a super special with one of the specific gems. It's all about innovation. I wich this game did have a practice mode though, as the 20+ hit combos are quite difficult to do; can you believe it, a game that actually takes skill. There are only a few of those. Mind you, these combos aren't like SFEX's where you do three supers and the combos done, these are like do 10 single attacks, 2-in-1 to a special, a few more normal attacks, 2-in-1 into a super move, etc.,etc. There's tons of different combos to learn. No tap-tap combos either. Well to sum it up, this game is fun and innovative, with just a bit lacking in the frames department. Definately a top of the line fighter.
