Tobal 2

Opening statements

Well, this is a fine addition to the Tobal series. This one makes the original Tobal look like it was made in the stone age. The fluid movement and great graphics are sure to catch your eye. Besides this point, we have to admit that the game is fun. The reviews say it all, so find out what we have to say......

This is definitely a unique fighting game, as well as one of my favorites. This game has what most 3-D fighters lack, 3-Dness. With the ability to walk around anywhere in the arena, similar to the first, it makes this title very innovative. The graphics as well as movement quality surpass Tekken's easily. It is so good you can't even see the polygons! Some people might not like the lack of combos though, although you can get a few 8-10 hit juggle combos, as well as a few 5 hit normal ones. Another innovative feature of this game is it's quest mode, adding what square does best, RPG elements and gameplay. You can talk to characters and everything you would find in an RPG! Also, if you find an item then you can play as any one of the enemies that you fought, giving you almost 200 characters. Like most games, this one isn't perfect though. It's normal fighting does get a bit repetitive after a while, but the quest mode will keep you busy for a while. This is a top of the line fighting game. So if you own an import system, buy this.

I have to be honest. This was a really fun game. The first thing that attracts you to this game was the graphics and the smooth movement. I have to say that the ability to move all around the fighting area was a nice feature. Another very good thing about this game is the multiple characters that you can receive in the game by completing the quest mode. I was just a little disappointed with the lack of combos, but this is a minor setback to a game that is awesome. I find it to be just a little less fun than Street Fighter EX, but that is because I am a Street Fighter Veteran. Any 3D fighter fan would have to admit that this is a really good game. If you have an import system then you should really buy this game. For the most part, the Japanese language doesn't really get in the way. You can easily understand what is going on, although you don't get to enjoy all the benefits of quest mode because a lot of the people you talk to of course are all speaking Japanese. This is still a reasonable sacrifice to play Tobal 2. If you've already played the latest addition to the Street Fighter series, then buy this game.

When my friend Ash told me that he got this game, I thought he was stupid to sacrifice half his games to get it. But, after I played it, I was able to understand why. Tobal 2 is just a flat out great fighting game. It has everything that you could want in a fighting game, an advanced combo system, hidden characters, great endings, and terriffic graphics. If you think that was enough, it even goes over the top and adds a story mode to the game. The enemies that you you defeat in quest mode can even be used in tournament mode. The pusher about this game is that it is actually a 3-D fighter. You have almost complete freedom of movement in the ring. A lot of other "3-D Fighters" lack this. And if you want to finish your opponent off in style, you can do massive combos that end in a tremendous air juggle that almost knocks the opponent off the screen. If you own an import-capable system, get this game. I'm not really into fighting games, but I really enjoy this game. It's just a shame that it is not out in the U.S.
