Fushigi Yuugi means The Mysterious Play, this is a romantic, comedy, adventure story all together, Two young Junior high school girls, Miaka Yuki, and Yui Hongo are in the library preparing for their high school entrance exams until both of them came upon a mysterious book. The girls find a book entitled, 'The Book of Four Gods' Sky and Earth', an ancient Chinese novel. Yui starts to read it. Suddenly, the girls are surrounded by a red glow. When they awaken, they are in a barren landscape. Yui and Miaka are shocked (though Miaka starts to worry about food). And so this is the beginning of our story... Meet our cast of characters. Miaka Yuki Miaka is a 15 year old middle school senior preparing for her high school entrance exams. Miaka is an airhead whose stomach is bigger than her brain. while Miaka and her friend Yui were reading the book, they got sucked in. During her ordeal Miaka Joins up with Tamahome who happens to be one of the seven stars of Suzaku. later on she is chosen to be the priestess of Suzaku. Tamahome a young handsome 17 year old martial artist and one of the star warriors of Suzaku. His forehead bears the character of Oni or Orge. The primary protector of the priestess of Suzaku, he first appears as someone only interested in money. Hotohori The 18 year old Emperror of the country or Konan, Hotohori's skills as a swordsman and leader are unparalleled for such a young man. Unexpectedly, Hotohori also turns out to be one of the star warriors destined to protect the Priestess of Suzaku, as signaled by the "star" characters on his neck. Nuriko Nuriko first appears as a beautiful young princess who saves Miaka and Tamahome from being burried underneath by nonchalantly flinging pieces of debris. First introduced under the name "Kourin," Nuriko bears the character for "willow," located on the chest over the heart A star warrior of great stregnth, Nuriko may first appear to be adept only at flirting, but things are not always as they appear. more characters coming soon!!! ^_^ Pioneer has bought the rights for the U.S. 8 monthly vols priced at 29.95 for subtitled and $24.95 for dubbed check your local video stores.
