Ian Anderson

Jethro Tull: since 1968
Albums: all albums
Instruments: vocals, all kinds of flutes, guitars,...

Ian Anderson founder and frontman of Jethro Tull celebrated his (unbelievable) 39th year as a musician in 2002. He was actually the first musician using the flute in a rock band. He remains the "father" of using the flute in popular music. He also plays ethnic flutes and whistles and all kinds of mandolines. Sometimes IA played drums and saxophone, but he won´t play that on stage. Beneath his work on Jethro Tull, he realised a classical project with "Divinities: Twelfe Dances With God" for EMI's Classical Music Division in 1995. He will tour with Jethro Tull and as a solo artist with orchestra and accoustic projects.
Ian Anderson runs a salmon farm and lives in the southwest of England. He has been married for 25 years with Shona, and has two children - James and Gael - working in the music and television industry. His Hobbies are using old leica and other vintage cameras, growing hot chile peppers and small wildcats (bengal cats). He owns a couple of off-road motorcycles, but no car, because he have no driving licence.
He calles himself a lifetime musician, so we look hopefully forward to many years with the music of Jethro Tull and Ian Anderson! I hope I´ll meet this great musician someday!
