"You don't have to stay up here with me tonight, I'll be fine by myself." I said to him.
"No, I wanna keep you company. I'm still afraid of psycho-Taylor anyway." He replied
I laughed and he said, "It's not funny. I'm really scared of him. But I'm glad to see you laugh." He reached out and wiped a tear away from my face.
For the second time since I've know Zac we were silent, and this weird feeling washed over me. I shook the feeling away and broke the silence, "You wanna go up?"
"Sure."
Once we were up there and had rolled out some sleeping bags (this time without bumping heads), Zac started pulling things out of his bag.
"What is all this stuff?" I asked.
"It is just somethings that I know will cheer you up....you were so upset on the phone, I figured you could use some happiness." He smiled.
"Thank you." I replied.
"First, is this." He pulled a cd player out and set it down on the floor. "I know what you're thinking and yes i do have batteries."
He slipped a cassette tape into the tape player and New Kids on the Block came blasting out. Zac and I had been die-hard New Kids fans when we were much younger.
I laughed, "Where did you find that?"
"It was in the bottom of my closet. That's not all though." He continued to pull things out of his bag, "Here is a "Clue" book for us to do and I stole this from the kitchen." He pulled a container of vanilla with fudge swirl ice cream out of his bag along with two spoons.
So for the next hour or so Zac and I tried to figure out the mysteries in the clue book (something we used to do a lot), while eating ice cream and listening to NKOTB.
It was the most fun I'd had in a long time and the night was going perfect until Zac came up with a *great* idea.
"Let's go play a joke on Taylor." He exclaimed suddenly.
The last thing I wanted to do was have to see Taylor after what he said on the phone but I couldn't say "no" to Zac's idea because he would think something was up. So I followed Zac out of the tree house and into his house.
Everyone was sleeping so we had to be extra quiet...which didn't exactly work out because all the lights were off and I knocked over a lamp in the dark.
But after we cleaned that up we found some whip cream in the fridge and proceeded up to the guy's room
I kind of lingered by the door while Zac did the whole whip-cream-in-hand-feather-on-face trick. After the third or fourth time Zac tickled his face Taylor woke up. I thought about running out of the room before Taylor could see me but once again I didn't want Zac to think anything.
"What the hell are you doing, Zac?" Taylor yelled.
"Shut-up." Isaac complained rolling over and trying to go back to sleep.
Taylor jumped out of bed with whip cream all over his face and Zac burst out laughing. Taylor looked completely ridiculous with whip cream all over him and I could hardly keep from laughing myself.
Taylor turned to see me standing there and looked kind of embarrassed, "Oh, hi Ali."
"Hi." I replied looking down.
"You are going to pay for this." Taylor said to Zac and then left the room to clean off his face.
As soon as he was gone Zac said, "Did you see his face? That was such a kodak moment."
"Yea."
"Ali, what's wrong? You're acting weird."
"Before you answer that, Ali, could you guys please leave the room? I'm trying to sleep!" Isaac piped up from his bed.
We left the room and found Taylor standing in the hallway with his face now clean.
Zac started laughing again, "Oh I wish I had a camera." he mumbled.
"Very funny. Listen Zac, I need to talk to Alison alone, so can you go find something to amuse yourself for a little while." Taylor asked.
Zac glanced back at me and then back at Taylor, "Ok, whatever." he started to walk away, "Somebody woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning." he mumbled as he passed by Taylor.
"Let's go somewhere to talk." Taylor said pulling me out of the hallway and down to the den.
