Answers to frequently asked questions...
General Questions
- You made us promise to never, ever spell résumé,
resume. Can you remind me how to find the right character if my program
doesn't have Insert Symbol?
- To correctly spell résumé, déjà vu or use any other special character
(¢, ©, or ¿ for example), look for the Character Map under your Window's
Accessories menu (It may appear directly under Accessories or one level
further down under System Tools). You can copy and paste (or even
drag) from the Character Map to your document or you can use the Unicode
equivalent. For example: to type the é character directly into your
message, make sure Num Lock is on, hold down your Alt key, and type
0233 from the numeric keypad. If you use a character often, it
would be more efficient to learn the code. The code for the selected
character is displayed in the bottom right corner of the Character map
window. With the é selected you see Keystroke: Alt+0233.
Remember that these numbers must be typed from the numeric keypad with
number lock turned on!

- Is there an easy way to save multiple attachments
I receive in a single e-mail?
- Yes there is, at least in Outlook or Outlook Express. (If you are
using a different program, there is probably a similar option, tho.)
Select or open the message. From the menu bar, choose File and
Save Attachments. You can save multiple attachments to the same
folder from the Save Attachments dialog box.

- I upgraded to Windows XP, what happened to Scandisk?
- It's been retired! To check your hard drive for bad sectors or file
system errors, go to My Computer, right click on the drive you wish
to check and choose Properties from the shortcut menu.
In the dialog box, click the Tools tab and click the Check
Now button under Error-checking.
