As an English major in college, frankly I'm amazed I didn't read either "The Hobbit" or "The Lord of the Rings." But I didn't, and that's even considering the fact that I took a fantasy/horror literature class. What a shame.
So imagine my surprise last February when I took myself to see "The Fellowship of the Ring" for my birthday. I figured I would just go and sit through it, but I was completely blown away. Not only were the special effects incredibly well-done, but they weren't so overwhelming that I couldn't concentrate on the story. And the character development was unbelievable.
