Elves work as humans do, hunting, farming, celebrating, and teaching their
young. They stay mostly among their own kind, and marriages between the elves
and humans are rare, tending to end in sad times for the elves because they
continue to live many more human life-spans. They rest/sleep very little,
needing only a small amount to sustain them.
They have a different way of looking at live, appreciating humor in the world,
often finding amusement where humans find little or none at all. But when they
are young, their attitudes are much like a human's.
They can read the moods of animals easier than humans can, but can only speak
to sooth them, in the elf language, as a human would. Many creatures that humans
believe are "spirits" (pixies, sprits and dryads) they can communicate with,
since these creatures exist near the elves' magic.
Their magic if ancient, a part of their being and of what they create, allowing
them to live at peace within the forests. Elven boots can make even a human
silent when walking, and elven bows are better able to strike their mark.
The magic is vested in themselves, their forests, and their creations. It can
sometimes be managed by those who fully understand it, but it isn't easily done
because their magic resists manipulations. It exists like their air, always
surrounding them, yet remaining unseen.
Their forests are called enchanted by humans for as long as they dwell there,
all within it living at peace. And time passes slowly in their land, it being
an ageless place, so they appear quite youthful even at a hundred years of age.
No one may enter their land unless they are invited, since the land and the
magic are their very essence.
