Adam Lee Rosol's This month, the big news was travel. We took a hike to Stone Mountain, NC, and let Adam play at the base of the waterfall. We also went to Atlanta, hoping to see Mark McGwire play baseball against the Braves, but the weather didn't cooperate. We did see the pandas in Zoo Atlanta, though. Other events this month: Carol's family came for a vist over the labor day weekend, Adam had his second haircut, "Miss Tedda" and Bob (friends of Carol's from Pittsburgh) stopped by for a visit on their way to Myrtle Beach, and Adam had a shot to hopefully prevent future ear infections. Here's some pictures of him during his 19th month
" Balls! I love 'em!" On our way to Stone Mountain (NC), we stopped at a McDonalds in Elkin for lunch and playtime. They had a ball crawl, and Adam didn't want to leave.
" Mommy will protect me from the dangers of the wild." After a 2 mile fairly strenuous hike (at least to two out of shape parents with a boy in a backpack), we got to the base of stone mountain where there was a beautiful waterfall. Daddy rested his feet, while mommy went to play with Adam at the base of the falls.
" This is so nice. You guys should carry me up here every weekend." Another picture of Adam and his mom at the base of the falls.
" Daddy! Swim over here and bring a fresh diaper! " After the exhausting hike, we took a bunch of pictures at the waterfall to make sure the trip was worthwhile.
" There's mud under here! Cool! " Adam liked the mud in the wading area at the base of the falls. All in all, a pretty good trip, even if his mom and dad were worn out carrying him 4-5 miles through the woods in a North Carolina August.
" I love animals!" We go to a major zoo, one with bears, elephants, gorillas, and even pandas, and Adam wants to pet the goats and sheep. Kids!
" Can I climb on the gorillas too? " Adam poses by a statue of a gorilla in Atlanta.
" Where am I in this picture?" Just to prove we can take a halfway decent picture that didn't have Adam in it, here's a zebra.
" Why are we standing out here in the rain, and where's Mark McGwire like you promised?" Greetings from Turner Field. We had hoped to see the Cardinals play the Braves, and we had bought incredibly expensive tickets from a scalper months in advance to sit as close to the 1st base bag and McGwire as we could. Then McGwire got hurt, and wouldn't play, which was pretty bad. Then the weather got like this, which was worse. There was a 4 hour rain delay, then they played the game. We were long gone by then, driving back to Charlotte.
" Daddy! At least let me play in the puddles!" Another view of Turner Field with a wet Adam and daddy trudging back towards cover.
