This is my page devoted entirly to the Vampire. Vampires have always been feared and revered throughout history. On this page you will find many things about the vampire. You will not however find anything here about real people that kill and drink blood. To me that is disgusting. Vampires are creatures of the night, myth, fantasy and above all, imagination.
Immortal
Just how do you kill a vampire? That's a very good question!
Sunlight: Nope, doesn't work. How could sunlight kill anyone? Unfortunalty there are a few unlucky people out there that are actually allergic to the sun's ray, but how could you catch it? A vampire can sunbathe just like you and I, they are just unable to keep there tan!
Garlic: Have you ever seen anybody keel over just by the taste, smell, or touch of garlic? Garlic is just an herb that grows in the ground. There may be a vampire or two out there that are allergic to Garlic, but I doubt you'll ever meet them in your lifetime!
Stake through the heart: I guess this one is pretty self explanitory. Would a stake through your heart kill you...Of Course!!! Why would a vampire be any different?
Crosses: The cross is a symbol of God, right? Just because someone is willing or unwillingly turned into a vampire, why would they wuddenly have to stop believing in God? Now, if they didn't believe,and you had enough power behind it...the Cross is still just a piece of metal or wood, right?
Decapitation: What do you think? I belive beheadedment will work on just about every living creature there is, and a few unliving as well!
Fire: Unless there is a form of water near by, poof!!
As you can see, vampires are just about like you and me in the ways to be killed.
They Actually Thought That?
These are some of the ways to kill and/or prevent vampires that have been documented throughout history. Above I've named the more common and believable ones, the ones below are just plain ridiculous!
*Place a coin in the vampire's mouth and cut off the head
*Boil the decapitated head in vinegar
*Burn the just the head
*Bury the body at a crossroads
*Add to the stake through the heart method by placing a nail through the temple
*Tie the body to it's grave with wild roses
*Bury the body face down
*Place a pile of stones on the grave
*Place poppy seeds in the grave
*Cut off the toes and drive a nail through the neck
*Pour boiling oil on the body and drive a nail through the navel
*Remove the heart and cut it in two. Then place garlic in the mouth and place a nail in the head
*Place a lemon in the body's mouth
Documented Causes of Vampires
*The seventh son of a seventh son is said to be a vampire
*Often when a person does not have a proper burial it is believed that he/she is unable to rest. Therefore the corpse remains active, the person becomes undead.
*Being bitten by another vampire is the most well known cause.
*In England it is said that when a cat jumps over a corpse the corpse becomes a vampire.
*A baby born with teeth or a caul is thought to be a vampire.
*People who committed suicide are often thought to become one of the undead.
*People who die violently or suddenly are said to return as vampires. Often seeking justice.
*Wild dogs jumping over a corpse has the same effect as a cat.
Creatures of the Night
Now, since sunlight doesn't hurt them, you're probably wondering why vampires are considered creatures of the night. Well, apparently vampires are inhumanly gorgeous creatures, but they have an uncanny thirst for blood. Drinking blood to them is a necessity. Without it, they would starve to death, just as a human would without food. There blood has a shortage of cells and when they consume other's blood, they absorb what they need.
Vampires don't neccesarily have to drink the blood of humans, but can survive off the blood of animals. That's what the more considerate vampires do. Why risk being caught and going to jail and being labled a freak when you can just run to the woods. That way if they get caught, there just looked at as a hunter that got a little to anxious about his find!!
Soul Mates
When a vampire find it's soul mate, or true love as you will, it's a special thing. Most choose to exchange blood, as a confirmation of their devotion. During this, the vampire drinks the blood from it's love. Just a tad, not enough to effect them physically at all. Then making a small incision on their body, usually the chest or wrist, the vampire allows his love to drink from him.
This is considered the highest form of joining between two lovers. It doesn't have to be two vampires, but can be a vampire and a human. After a human drinks the blod of the vampire, their senses are heightened a bit, and they expierence a slightly euphoric feeling that slowly subsides as their body absorbs the vampires blood.
