The Robotic Worlds

(AKA: The Siliconics, or The Robotics)

Overview:

The Robotic Worlds of Do, Ti, La, and So are home to a mysterious race of ‘Sentient’ robots and androids located in Sector H near the Federation of Democratic Worlds, the Confederation of Democratic Worlds, and the Locke Dependencies. There is little information on the internal workings of the Empire as until their recent application for and admission into the FDW there was no direct contact between the Robotics and other systems in this quadrant. As they have refused any contact at all with representatives of the Omnet and have thwarted my efforts to establish Contact with the FDW, most of my information is second hand obtained from Confederation Government sources, Jeffery Moor of the CDW, and my own reconnaissance into the Robotic systems.

Q-dex:

T 887.8227/190A M 626.2513/713.91

The area is a matter Nodal zone with an above average handling ratio and advancement ratio and a high Quantity measure. Tech Storms are extremely violent and large though fortunately rare and of short duration. Outsiders are unwelcome in all but the most rare circumstances. OMNET contact has been completely avoided and has not been sought. All attempts by the OMNET to establish contact have been rebuffed.

The area is also a n Enchanted Mana Linear zone with an above average handling ratio, a below average advancement ratio and above average Quantity measure. Mystic storms are mild, of average occurrence, and below average duration and size. There is only one non humanoid life form located in the zone if the Robotics can be determined to be ‘Life’ as we know it.

Technology:

It goes without saying that a society comprised of ‘sentient’ Robots and Androids would be highly advanced technologically speaking. Technology is very complex but based upon my examination of items imported into the Federation from the robotics the handling ratio must be very high for in these few standard months I have been gathering information on this society I’ve noticed high evolution in the quality of each new device imported from the one that preceded it. I gather that the Robotics like the sentient beings of MIN are always striving to make improvements upon the technological devices that they create. Matter and Energy are found in abundant quantities and are used to produce the robotics themselves plus goods to be traded to other empires for raw materials.

Magic:

There is no indication of wide spread magic use in the Robotics. If they are indeed products or progeny of a race of ‘Technomages’, the use of Magic could be hidden beneath a Pseudo-Technological veneer. Robotic Trade Ships have been know to travel into low Tech quantum zones and their fighters have no visible means of locomotion nor firepower. Mana residues have been found following contact with both types of ships.

Size:

The Robotic Worlds are comprised of four planets in four star system in sector H. These planets are called Do, Ti, La, and So.

Population:

Exact population figures are unknown. Several billion androids and robots reside on each world but should we count computer systems and other AI in our computations??? Sensors indicated several hundred TFP’s in use on each world but how they arrived there is still open to question. Sensors indicated only a few hundred organic life forms on each planet the identity of which is unknown.

Several Egg ships chased me as I passed Merlin’s Shadow traveling back to FDW space. Sensors indicated several hundred thousand humanoid lifeforms and one or two dragons but I was too busy with escape and evasion maneuvers to further investigate.

Climate and Geography:

The Robotic Worlds are bleak and desolate. They appear to have been standard Class M worlds at one time but Industrialization and the destruction of the organic environment and its replacement by technological structures have turned each world into bleak windswept, acid rain soaked nightmares. Only beings made of metal would be at home here.

Do:

Do is a type C Planet of moderate size consisting of saltwater seas across 62% of its mass. Land is divided into six contenients all of which are covered with metallic structures of unknown purpose over every available inch of real estate. Atmospere is Oxygen/Nitrogen based but is very polluted with hydrocarbinic and methane residues. No organic life above one cell organisms has been detected.

Large masses of metallic stuctures are located on the coasts and near active volcanoes. The largest of these I believe to be what has been referred to as Robot City, the Capital where the Trajan resides and where it is rumored the Temple of Pooh a'kee is located. Larger numbers of worker drones can be seen performing various tasks in all of these complexes and large amounts of power are emmitted from them which leads me to believe they are equivelant to human cities.

Flora and Fauna:

No Organic life forms are known to exist in abundance. Only a few hundred could be picked up by ship’s sensors as I passed close to each world. With the high Manna presence in the area of the robotics it is highly possible for mystical lifeforms to exist (I did notice Dragons as I passed Merlin’s Shadow) though more investigation is needed.

History:

The early history of the Robotics is unknown. Myths and legends abound as to their beginning. Jeffery Moor has told me that the most popular myth seem to be that they were once ruled by a highly advanced race of technomages who created androids and robotic servants via technological means then imputed them with a mystical will to improve their performance.

It is said that these beings rebelled and overthrew their masters following the destruction caused by the passing of an especially violent Quantum weather front and began the society we know today. Moor believes that this is believable as technology similar to that used by the Robotics has been found in ancient ruins in the deserts of the CDW world Rodel(See my paper on the Frost Corporations very dangerous experiments with that technology) though there is no trace of an Android society there.

Active contact between the FDW and the robotics began about 20 years ago when the Federation began to explore near the Quantum Front separating their Fortune’s System from Merlin’s Shadow and encountered Robotic scout ships there. Trade Ships brought the first of the Traders to Union shortly thereafter.

A FDW Senatorial Junket lead by Whig Party leaders Olaf Breen and Anne Urundi was made a short time later. Breen was so impressed he formed the Abolitionist party dedicated to freeing all synthetic minds from servitude to Organic Beings and their recognition as just another form of ‘Sentient Life’.

This Abolitionist belief has lead to the Secession of the Robot manufacturing and using worlds from the FDW following Breen’s election as President last year. There are rumors that Breen and the Robotics were behind the assassination of Senator Edmunde Telemarke of Dixie and his wife the Supreme Court Justice Astrid Boyd-Telemarke by extremists which proved to be a main catalyst for the fromation of the CDW.

Government:

The Robotics are ruled by a being on Do known to them as ‘The One’, or ‘The One Who Sleeps Not’. Some say that this is their 'God', Pooh A'kee. All the Robotics from the Trajans to the lowliest drone obey this unit’s every command. The One also seems to be the central planner of all Governmental and Economic policies.

The One is served by four Androids known as the Trajans. There is a Trajan in charge of each of the four Robotic Worlds and each Trajan bears the name of the world over which he maintains control. No one from the FDW has ever met The One. All contact has been with one or another of the Trajans.

Below the Trajans nothing is certain of the hierarchy among the various classes of workers and armbots. The Satraps work beneath the Trajans to dispense commands to various work groups. Centurions seem to lead Armbot companies. Merchants work trade agreements and seem to be the diplomats.

Foreign Policy:

Policy seems to be the acceptance throughout the Galaxy of Synthetic Minds as free willed Sentient life. They have seemingly convinced the Sentients of the FDW of this fact and have sent Satraps to the FDW Congress as their Representatives.

Armbot infantry and Robot vessels of war are said to be heading towards CDW space as the Robotics prepare to assist their Unionist allies force the planets of the CDW back into the Federation of Democratic Worlds.

Domestic Policy:

Domestic policy seems to involve service to The One Who Sleeps Not by every member of the Robotic Society.

Society:

Languages:

The robotics seem to speak a binary language that is translated into musical notes. I have observed them speaking to each other on Union and they sound remarkably like birds singing back and forth to one another. President Trinith of the Orinichians has told me it sounds remarkably like the babbling of new hatchlings.

In their dealings with other sentients the Robotics show a knack for almost instantaneous universal translation. I spoke to one of their trade representatives on Union and in a few minutes he was able to speak with me in Lockease with a perfect accent from my home district.

From this encounter I also sensed that the Robotics also possess some degree of telepathy or highly advanced empathy for after a few moments of conversation this Trader saw through my Gameshow Host persona and told me that, "The One does not allow his subjects to communicate with an OMNET Vestis."; and he refused to have any further dealings with me. I have been unable to speak to any of them since.

Religion:

The robotics worship their leader, The One, with an almost religious fervor. I can only compare this fervor to that shown by TFP who adhered to the teachings of the Order of Future Faith and I have suspicions that perhaps some leftover remnants of the Darkness have taken over here. There are some attempts by the Robotics to infiltrate the Latium Church. The purpose of this infiltration is unknown as they recognize only the commandments of The One and believe in no mystical higher power such as Yaweh or Yeshua .

Castes:

The Society is ruled by the entity known as The One or The One Who Sleeps Not.

The Trajans are The One’s Four Chief Administrators who rule Do, Ti, La, and So and who take the name of the planet they rule.

The Satraps are the Android leaders of the various Clans of the Four Worlds. Each Clan is named by color and functionality.

The only known Clans at this time are Trader, Worker, Explorer, and Armbot. The operation of the worker clans are limited to the production units of the Robotic Homeworlds. Nothing is known of their functionality except their ability to improve existing design which is similar to the same talent seen among the Doppelgangers of MIN in Sector G/B.

The explorer Clans are made up of one Android Satrap and 25-30 Robotic Exploration Ships. These ships are actually Robots whose sole existence is to explore unknown areas of the quadrant and report their findings back to the Satrap. In Technologically High zones they travel using the Hydrogen Fusion Engine and the Jump Gate Generator. Their means of travel through Mystical zones is unknown but manna residue is left in their wake.

The Trader Clans consist of a Satrap who controls 25-30 Trade Negotiators and 25-30 Trade Ships of varying sizes. The Negotiators travel on their individual ships to planets having resources necessary for the function of Robotic industry and attempt to negotiate trading agreements to send technological goods manufactured in the Robotics for materials from the Worlds visited.

The Tradeship itself is a robot which contains a hold of varying size to transport goods to the receiving world and resources back to the Homeworlds.

The Armbot Clans

The Armbot clans are responsible for defense of the empire. Our first sighting of them was in the attack upon the CSS Ark Kansas near Moor’s Planet.

Economy:

Information on the Economy of the Robotics is unknown. It is questionable if a true economy even exists. If it does it would probably be some type of communal order centrally planned by The One. .

Military:

Military

The military is the responsibility of the Armbot Clans. A Satrap commands the Naval and Ground forces under his disposal. Centurions command the infantry and Egg Fighter wings. The Order of Battle of Each Clan appears to be:

Naval Forces:

One Dodecahedron shaped Robot Dreadnought armed with a 500 Mw Meson Accelerator as main armament and carrying 100 Egg shaped Robot Fighters and 500 Armbot Infantry.

Three Quadrangle based Pyramid shaped Cruisers armed with 4 250 mw Pulse Cannon batteries, 12 150mw E-gun Ship defense batteries and Four ship to ship missile launchers.

Six Triangle based Pyramid shaped Destroyers armed with 1 250mw Pulse cannon and 15 150mw E-Gun Ship defense batteries and 4 ship to ship missile launchers.

Four Oblong Transport Armbot carriers with 5000 armbot infantry on each and 100 Egg fighters.

Robot Egg fighters—Means of propulsion is unknown. Each fighter is a self contained robot unit. They use a massive burst of quantum energy as a weapon and an unknown metal armor which is impervious to all FDW/CDW weapons save high watt energy weapons and MIRC missiles.

They also seem to be able to admit a high frequency transmission that plants a virus into unprotected robots and AI and makes them become extremely hostile to humans and other organic lifeforms and may give TFP’s a new version of the question. Even simple nanotransistors such as those found in MIRC missiles are susceptible to this virus and go awry choosing survival over following orders.

Armbots

Android infantry designed for ground attack. Though they take humanoid form the Armbots have more strength and endurance than their human counterparts. They require no food nor water nor air. Their only requirement is to occasionally recharge their batteries via solar power and a short respite for overhaul if forced into action for over 200 straight hours.

Each armbot has three arms two of which end in fingers which can come together to form a blade or mace weapon the third arm is an E-rifle. A grenade launcher is hidden inside the monsters chest and can be used to hurl indirect fire photon grenades against enemy targets.

Each has optics which enable them a 360 degree view of their surroundings at all times and it is virtually impossible to sneak up on them without some kind of cloaking device.

Some are equipped with an anti G sled which enables them to traverse rough terrain. It is suicide for a human to engage an Armbot in hand to hand combat though an Argon with a good electrosword would have a small chance. (thread ends here)

Sports and Leisure:

Nothing is known for sure how the Robots and Androids amuse themselves. It is known that among humans and argonians they seem to be preoccupied with watching and participating in hauntings and games dealing with guessing the name of the Melody based solely upon a short list of musical notes

Major Population Centers:

Do, Ti, La, and So are almost planetary cities. Each contain billions of Robotic inhabitants though a precise census was not possible.

Chronic Problems:

.

The only problems that I have been able to hypothesize is that the Robotics are facing a lack of natural and material resources and they are in a Quantum Zone subject to very violent tech storms of which there is no indication of one having occurred in quite some time which suggests a violent one can be expected soon.

They are especially seeking sources of Yardow and I believe they are attempting to construct their own TFP’s without OMNET supervision. They are the guiding hand behind the War with the CDW though what purpose this serves them remains to be seen.
