A few days later, Ria was cooking when the doorbell rang. 'Coming!' she yelled, as she wiped her hands on a cloth. She opened the door, and a huge smile spread across her face. 'Brian! You're back!' she squealed, hugging him, and then kissing him full on the lips. 'Hmmmm' he murmured. 'I want this welcome whenever I come home.' he said. She laughed and pulled him inside before closing the door. He'd had to go back and finish the tour with the others, but before he'd gone, they'd talked and decided that it was more than a one night stand, and Brian had asked her to be his girlfriend. Now he was home and Ria was ecstatic.
'So, how was the tour?' she asked him as she led him into the front room of her new house, which sh'ed only just moved into. 'Great. We're finally taking off over here, and itz our dream coming true.' he told her. Then he frowned. 'There is one bad thing.' he added, biting his lower lip. 'What is it?' she asked. 'You won't like it' 'I don't care. What bad thing happened?' she demanded. 'Weeell,' he drew out the word, biding his time. 'I told Donna about us, and-' he took a deep breath. 'To cut a long story short, she said we couldn't date.'
Ria sat in shock. 'Did I hear right?' He nodded. 'But I have a choice' he said, his voice on a happier note. 'We can either split, or I can-' She interrupted him. 'No, I will not let you do that.' 'You don't even know what I was going to say.' 'Or you could leave the band. And no, you couldn't. We'll have to split.' she said calmly. She was struggling with tears, but succeeded in holding them back. 'And now would be best.'
She stood up and walked towards the door. When he got to her, she had opened it and was waiting for him to leave. 'But Ria-' he started. 'Just go Brian.' She said, avoiding his gaze. 'OK' he muttered. 'but I have to do this.' He leaned over to her and kissed her softly. When he pulled away, she gently pushed him outside the door. 'Bye Brian' she whisphered as she closed the door. He just caught sight of a tear running down her cheek before she closed it. Hidden from his sight, Ria leaned against it, and slid down to the floor, burying her head in her hands as sobs racked her body.
