FAVORITES from the collection

These are some of my nicest relics, not for sale at this time.

Roanoke River Medicine Pipe

The Roanoke River Medicine Pipe is over 11", and was featured in my article of that name in Prehistoric American in January 1998. The pipe currently makes up a part of the Rankin Museum of American Heritage in Ellerbe, NC. You can visit the new wing of the Rankin Museum at http://rankinmuseum.com/archaeological_page.htm The Rankins have just added 2500 square feet to accomodate their expanding and wonderful collection of Native American artifacts.

Quartz Clovis

I found this little worn down Clovis point late last year. It is fluted on one side and ground in the hafting area.

Some Favorites

The four serrated points are personal finds of rhyolite and yellow quartzite. The double ended chisel, two celts, and fine North Carolina bannerstone all came from an old local collection from the Roanoke River valley. The fine tallied pendents and gorget are from good Midwestern collections, and have been published in Prehistoric American, December 1998.
