~*~*Chapter 51*~*~
The next morning, Monica and Nick barged into Heather's room, not caring what they saw when they opened the door.
"What the hell..." Brian began.
"Guys, get up! Brian's parents are downstairs as we speak!" Nick said.
"Holy shit!" Brian said and tied a blanket around his waist. He slipped on the clothes he wore the night before and ran downstairs to greet his parents. Nick followed him.
"Girl, you better get up!" Monica told Heather.
"I know, I know. I'm going to hop in the shower first. I'll be right down," Heather said.
~~~~~
As much as she tried not to, Heather took a long shower. Her head throbbed, for some odd reason.
"Oh, I hate headaches," she said as she went downstairs.
"Oh, Heather! Congratulations!" Mrs. Littrell said as she ran over and gave her a hug. She watched as Jackie's eyes twinkled as she talked about married life with her future daughter-in-law. Heather didn't even notice that her family walked in the door.
"Mom!" Heather exclaimed. They all had an emotional reunion with hugs and kisses.
"I'll be right back," Heather said.
"Where are you going?" Monica asked.
"To get some aspirin," Heather replied.
"Head hurt?"
"Yea, I must have banged it on something last night," Heather said before realizing she had said it. She wished she could take it back as Brian's face flushed a deep crimson.
"I'll be back," she said before turning on her heel and into the kitchen.
"So how do you want your wedding?" Mrs. Littrell asked when Heather returned. Heather resumed her seat next to Brian.
"Well," she began, "I've always pictured my wedding to be in a meadow full of flowers and birds singing in the trees. My bridesmaids and Maid Of Honor would be dressed in alight blue dress, along with the flower girl, of course."
"Well, we'll do just that!" Brian said and gave her a kiss on the cheek.
"How many guests?" Mrs. Mason asked.
"Well, let's see... All of my family, your family, my friends, your friends," Brian counted. "Probably around 300 invites, give or take a few," Brian finished.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
By the time that dinner came around that night, Heather thought she was going to die of a headache. The sight of food made him nauseous. All of their guests had left, excluding Brian, Nick, and Monica.
"I'm not hungry tonight," Heather said.
"That head still bothering you?" Monica asked. Heather nodded. Heather walked over to the couch and placed her head on the cushion. A few minutes later, two familiar hands began to massage her temples.
"Brian?" she murmured as his hands worked magic on her head. She never got to hear his answer for she was sound asleep in a matter of seconds.
~*~*Chapter 52*~*~
The next three months passed by all too quickly. Everyone was bustling around for the wedding in October.
"Careful!" Brian cautioned to his four year old cousin Shannon, who ran around in her dress as their Flower Girl. Everything and everybody was so stressed out that Heather needed to get away from it all. She immediately accepted when Monica asked her if she wanted to go to The Magic Kingdom with her the next day. Unfortunately, Nick and Brian were getting fit for their tuxes, so they couldn't make it. Too bad. Heather wanted to spend some alone time with Brian. After all, it was mid-July and she hadn't been 'with him' since the night he proposed. They were getting married! It was worth the wait.
The next day, Heather and Monica had left early so they could get a good parking spot at the Magic Kingdom.
"Wait a sec, Monica. I have to get some water," Heather said as she made her way over to the concession stand and bought some bottled water. She zipped open her purse and pulled out a bottle of Advil.
"You have ANOTHER headache?" Monica asked.
"It's only stress," Heather replied and swallowed the two pills.
"You have been getting a lot of them lately," Monica mentioned.
"It's because of the wedding. Phew! It's hot out here!" Heather exclaimed, changing the subject.
"I know it is," Monica agreed. Heather finished her water and the two girls headed off to the nearest ride.
~~~~~~~~~~
"That was awesome!" declared Monica as the girls got off the third roller coaster they had been on.
"Oh, that did it for me," Heather said, holding her stomach. Monica noticed that her friend looked very pale.
"C'mon," Monica said and grabbed Heather. She ran them over to a small concession stand.
"Here, have this," she said, handing her the water. Heather chugged it down but still looked as pale as anything. The two girls stood up and started to walk away. About five steps later, Heather reached out for Monica's arm and fell to the ground. She was out cold.
"Heather!" Monica screamed as she watched her friend crumple to the ground. A crowd had gathered around her.
"Someone help me! Call 911!" she cried frantically. Within a matter of 10 minutes, Heather was loaded into the ambulance with Monica at her side. Monica held her hand and cried softly. What happened to her best friend?
