~*~*Chapter 39*~*~
Knock! Knock! The sound of the door caused Brian to jump. He looked over at Heather, who was still sleeping peacefully.
' Who could that be?' he thought to himself as he wrapped one of the bathrobes around him. He slowly opened the door and saw that it was Room Service.
"Sorry, Sir, but we didn't order Room Service," Brian said as he handed the guy some tip.
"Hotel Policy. It's on us," the man said. Brian shrugged and wheeled the cart of food into their room. He looked over at Heather, who was sleeping on her stomach with the covers wrapped around her waist. Brian crawled back under the covers while Heather still slept. He laid down next to her and looked at her while gently rubbing her back, taking in her smooth skin. Heather's eyes slowly fluttered open.
"Good morning," Brian said, kissing her lips tenderly.
"Hey, you," she said, rolling onto her back and pulling the covers up to her chest. His fingers played with her belly button as her eyes glanced at the table filled with food.
"Gosh, I'm hungry," she said. She threw the covers off of her and walked over to the food. Brian soon joined her.
"MMmm, taste this," she said, dropping a Kiwi into his mouth. She placed another on his tongue, and he gently bit her finger.
"Hey!" she said and retreated her finger.
"I'm sorry, baby," he said and reached for her bitten finger and kissed it. RING!
"Hello?" Heather asked.
"HAPPY BIRTHDAY!" she heard Monica scream into the phone.
"Aww, thanks. Wait- how did you get my number?" "Nick." Monica told her. Nick picked up on the other end.
"Happy Birthday, Heather." Nick said
"Thanks, Nick. Hold on a sec." Heather said. She told Brian to pick up on the other phone. Brian picked up and the four of them talked for a while.
"Yo B-Rok! Did you give Heather the ring yet?" Nick asked.
"Nick, you're so lucky I gave it to her last night," Brian said They all laughed.
"Hey, we gotta go, now." Monica said. They hung up and got ready to get dressed. Heather ran her hands through her dirty hair that needed a washing.
"I'm gonna hop in the shower," she said to Brian
"OK," Brian said, who was picking at some food, facing the other direction. Heather untied her bathrobe.
"Care to join me?" she asked, throwing the bathrobe at him. He turned around and saw her slip into the bathroom.
"Coming!" he called, running after her.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~MEANWHILE, BACK IN FLORIDA~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Monica said good-bye with a click. She walked into the kitchen in Brian's apartment. She saw Nick raiding the fridge.
"May I ask what you are doing?" Monica asked Nick. Nick hit his head on the shelf.
"Mon! You scared me!" Nick said, rubbing his head. Monica laughed. For the past two days, all she did was laugh with Nick or at Nick. They fought like brother and sister, but Monica had to admit that when Nick laughed, he had a twinkle in his eye that could melt a girls heart. She couldn't help but feel attracted to him.
' How could I not?' she asked herself.
'Stop it!' she was scolded by her conscience.
"So when does the US Tour Start?" Monica asked.
"About a week after Brian and Heather come back. I really hope Brian doesn't sulk and mope around like he did all summer without Heather," Nick said. He pulled out a chair at the kitchen table and sat down. Monica joined him.
"Heather missed Brian a lot, too," Monica said.
"Do you think that Heather would come on tour with us if Brian asked her to?" Nick asked Monica.
"Not by herself. Maybe, though." Monica answered.
"Would you?"
"Would I what? Go on tour with you guys if Brian asked me to?" Monica asked.
"No, if I asked you to," Nick said, practically under his breath.
"Yes, Nick. I would." Monica said and noticed that the twinkle was in Nick's eyes again.
"Really?!?" Nick questioned. Monica laughed. Yup!" Monica said again.
"YES!!" Nick screamed. He jumped into the air and ran over and gave Monica a bear-hug.
"Ouch, Nick. You're...hurting...me," Monica said, against his cheek. She realized that their faces were close. Their lips, just inches away..... Without any control, Monica pressed her lips on top of Nick's. She stopped abruptly and put her hand over her mouth. She watched Nick's face flush deep red.
"Nick-I am soo sorry-" she never got to finish her sentence. Her sentence was stopped by the urgency of Nick's lips on her own.
~*~*Chapter 40*~*~
Brian and Heather strolled the shoreline of the beach. After what had happened in the shower, they decided to get some fresh air. Ever since last night, Heather had noticed a slight change in Brian's attitude. He had become quiet.
' Maybe he's tired,' she consoled to herself.
"Let's go back to the hotel," she said to Brian. Brian nodded in agreement.
She saw Brian stretch when they got to the hotel.
"Aw, Bri. Go take a nap, she said, walking him to their unmade bed.
"I'm not..that..tired," Brian lied while yawning.
"I'll wake you up later, ok?" She said to him and kissed his forehead. She watched him drift off to sleep before grabbing his cell phone. She headed onto the balcony, and shut the door quietly so she wouldn't disturb his sleeping boyfriend. She quickly punched in 11 numbers and let it ring.
"Hello?" a girl's voice answered.
"Monica!" Heather asked.
"Heather, hi!" Monica said.
"What are you doing?" Heather asked.
"Nothing much."
"Is Nick there?"
"Actually, he is....."
"Oh, cool."
"I kissed him," Monica blurted out.
"You did WHAT?!?" Heather asked.
"I don't know what came over me. I just...did it," Monica said.
"And..."
"and he kissed me again." There was a pause. "and again."
"Monica! I can't believe it! This is so cool!" Heather exclaimed. The two of them talked for a while about Nick and Brian until Heather felt a tap on her shoulder.
"AAHH!" Heather screamed, dropping the phone. She whirled around and noticed it was Brian.
"Omigod, Brian! You scared me half to death!" Heather said.
"I'm sorry," Brian said, kissing all of her scares away. Heather said good-bye to Monica and told Brian what was happening with Monica and Nick. Brian laughed.
"I thought Nick had a thing for her," Brian said.
They decided to go to a restaurant downtown for dinner. Heather wore a sky blue sundress and Brian wore a white shirt with Khakis.
"Lookin' good, handsome," Heather said to Brian, swooning over his cologne that filled the room.
"Not so bad yourself, miss!" Brian said, looking her up and down. They drove in comfortable silence as they drove to the restaurant. Brian held the door for her and walked in after. The waiter led them to an isolated table in the corner. Her eyes scanned the room and noticed that many people were dancing.
"Wanna dance, Bri?" Heather asked him.
"Sure."
"Brian, are you OK? You seem kind of...mad," Heather said while dancing.
"Yea, I'm fine, honey. I just have a lot of things on my mind, that's all." The song changed into a slow song. Heather draped her arms around Brian's neck.
"What are you thinking about?" Heather asked him as she put her head on his chest.
"You."
"What?"
"I've never loved anyone as much as I love you," Brian said.
"You know I feel the same way about you, Brian" Heather said.
"I just can't stand to leave you again. The whole summer I was lost without you and I can't afford to do that again."
"Brian, what are you saying?"
"Come on tour with me. Spend the next two months by my side on the road.
