Throughout the course of the series there have been many things prowled behind the scenes that the fans are unaware of until now. Some of this information has come from "inside" sources and various other locations across the internet but every bit of it is confirmed.
In the second in production order episode of Sliders first season, the episode "Summer of Love" had a very important scene written by Tracy Torme in which we learn the basis of the timer. In that now missing scene we first are told about the 29.7 year wait the sliders have to endure if they miss the *window of oppourtunity*. Before production, the original script was called "Geniuses" but later became to be "Eggheads".
During the stages of season 1, Tracy Torme(the creator) had written a script called "Blood & Splendor". It centered upon the sliders learning that inside the vortex strange interdimensional creatures were munching sliders like kibble, luckily aiming the timer at those creatures while in the vortex killed them. This unproduced episode was written into a comic book. It wasn't actually turned into an episode because FOX wanted to keep the budget small, and it would have costs alot for this particular idea.
In the second season opener(after the Quinn getting shot cliffhanger) Ryan was only seen for a few seconds with Wade in a dream sequence. But that wasn't what was originally going to happen. Tracy TOrme originally had not a 2 minute dream funeral for Quinn but a 7 minute funeral, where alot more happens than what did. Also, after Quinn woke up, they were originally suppose to Slide with Ryan and Henry(the dog). Ryan was supposed to join the original cast for most of the season, from what I heard 5 episodes. Tracy Torme says that during those first four or so episodes we were supposed to really get to like Ryan as a character and that in the last episode with him in it...something terrible was supposed to happen to Ryan that would affect all of the Sliders.
Yep.In one of the original scripts for this episode Geraldo was to appear. His charactr(a double) would go through the vortex with the sliders to the next world...a dinosaur world. Interested? Read the script draft at The Dimension Of Continuity
