MEETING HELEN MORAN

Helen is a mother of four and grandmother of two. Her youngest daughter is two and half years old and her eldest is 24years.

Helen is a descendant of the Wiradjuri and Wongaibon Nations of NSW, a member of the Stolen Generations she has worked tyrelessly to promote the Journey of Healing and National Sorry Day movement. As a public speaker she has appeared numerous times in schools, colleges,universities,and conferences. She even took the message overseas to Switzerland.

Helen is currently completing a Bachelor of Arts degree at the National University of Australia.

In addition to her talent as a singer, songwriter, and performer, Helen is also a visual artist and poet. Her poem "Stolen Children's Dreaming part 1,2&3 are recited by Leah Purcell on the "BURRAAY" album; while as an artist, she designed the message for "Journey of Healing's 10 pairs of Music Sticks. She was a finalist in the Royal Blind Society's innaugural "Taxtile Art Competition 2000", while also having works exhibited at the Nation Heritage awards and the Casula Power House.

Before teaming up with Johnny Huckle four years ago, Helen was the radio announcer for Canberra's 2XX Community Radio's indigenous program "Soveriegn Voices" she had also produced the compilation album "BURRAAY, Dreaming Them Home", which presents some of Australia's finest Aboriginal Performing Artists.

She has since performed, arranged and co-produced with Johnny Huckle their debut album, "Listen to the Spirit", their children's album the "Wombat Wobble", and The Roebourne Community Album "Roebourne Roebourne Ieramagadu"

Helen manages Johnny and their children's "Wombat Wobble Show" and workshops.

Helen is currently co-ordinating "The Wombat Wobble Show's" up and coming performances and Workshops around the country. Helen is presently producing the "Wombat Wobble Cross Cultural Song & Activity Book" which she hopes to have available in the new year.
