Earlier History

(B.D.{Before Dni}-4999 D.E.{D'ni Era})

Changing worlds

9658 years ago (as of April 21, 2002 - April 21, 2003), the D'ni had to move from their homeworld, Garternay due to a great disaster. At this time the cause is unknown (or has not, at least, been released to the public by the Resoration Engineers) but it has been speculated upon. Some say an earth-quake or a similar natural disaster, others say it was man(D'ni)-made, such as a tyrannical leader or perhaps even a weapon of mass disruption. Back to the subject, however, the D'ni fled Garternay as well as a similar race, known as the Terrahnee (who make up a big part of the Book of D'ni. Earth was supposedly written by Ri'Neref, the greatest writer in all the line of D'ni, when he was only an apprentice.

Very early events.

The founding of the Writer's Guild, 8, Leevot 9. This was, of course, a very high priority to the D'ni, so that they could have a place from which to import resources, as well as to recreate. It took eight years to build the grand buildings used, and there was a great ceremony when it opened.

The Day of the Circle 100, Leenovoo 18. This was a celebration of the completion of the 18 major guilds. It is said that the 18 grand masters from the guilds stood in a circle, but, like so much else, this evidence is too little to know for certain.

The opening of the Common Library, 233, Leefo 12. The wealthy people of D'ni had their own books, written especially for them, but the common people were not wealthy enough to afford these. The opening of the Common Library caused great rejoicing, because now the commoners (who were not "poor" per se, as there were no "poor" in D'ni, they were just not as wealthy as some of the guild families) could have access to books as well--for recreation and such-like. It is said that there was disagreement in the guilds as to whether the Common Library should be opened. The reason for this is unknown, if it even happened at all.

The Great King

The Great King (Who seems to be mysteriously lacking a name) stayed in Garternay until 1323, Leevot 12 D.E. (D'ni Era, which is 8335 B.C.). When he did come to D'ni, he verified that they could not return. During his life-time, he made several prophesies that were said to have come to him in his dreams. Unfortunatley, the original copies have not been found and this has only been verified in unsubstantial sources.

At the time of the Great King's death in 1502, Leefo 23, there was created for him a great tomb. Until then the D'ni and the Terrahnee kept in communication, but it seems there was a dispute, and the Terranee korvahk (linking book) was sealed in the tomb with him. The Terranee and their former connection with the D'ni lost in the mists of time and ecame but legend, until found by Atrus and the D'ni recently (around 9470 D.E.).

Early Mid History

The lost Books of Birenni found on 2262, Leevobro 12. There was a great writer on Garternay a while before the D'ni's arrival on earth. He had written very great books that were lost upon arrival to earth. Though rigorous searches were made, they were not found for two-thousand years. It was a great loss felt by the entire society. The finding was, of course, a great celebration.

The first Day of Dancing 3646, Leetar 21, marks the day that Garternay was completely destroyed. 3.5 thousand years after the exodus of the D'ni, their homeworld was utterly destroyed. It was a celebration of the Great King who taught them to seal their old world away, as well as a celebration that they were still alive and flourishing.
