Nothing
like my church family

Having a
church family to pray for myself and my family means so much to me.
Just
knowing that the elders get together everyday to pray for the church and it's
members means to me; my church family loves me and cares for me.
My husband
and I parted from the first church that we belonged to after rededicating our
lives to the Lord, the doctrine we learned went against our belief. Being new
in the Lord, looking back now, I feel we became members to hastily.
The time
we were not members of a church was quite scary to us. We felt disconnected ,
we did not like the feeling what so ever.
We are
still not as involved in church ( as members) as much as the Lord would have
us to be. We go on Sundays and Wednesdays and do a few extra things, but God
keeps speaking to our spirits to do more.
My husband
and I come from a selfish alcoholic background, that we constantly talk among
ourselves as to how to shake that selfish attitude with our time. Time to us
seems like gold, when we know it should not be that way, we struggle daily to
give of ourselves to other things other than to just each other and ourselves.
We find it sometimes so hard to separate from each other. We offer each other
comfort of knowing who each other really is.
Growing in
the Lord is a wonderful exciting experience. Satan doesn't want us to do that.
So he is constantly throwing stones at us. Reminding us of our backgrounds,
and putting obstacles in our way. We have to be strong and take a stand to get
out of our complacency to just stay at home in our own little world.
Belonging
to the church that my husband and I do has shown us the love of Jesus, and the
love of Jesus though other believers. I could not imagine our life without
belonging to a church family. It is good for believers to account for and be
accounted for. We must all constantly spur each other on.
The Lord
also tells us to leave the elementary teachings behind and go on to maturity.
I believe in my heart of hearts, in my spirit, God is telling me if I don't
get out of that complacency
I won't continue growing in Christ the way He wants me to. I won't learn the
life lessons he so lovingly wants to guide me through.
Are you
being complacent? Thank you Lord for this devotion today. Thank you for
speaking to my heart, and showing me my error of complacency.
