My Favorite Sports Teams

I have been a Falcons fan since 1991 and have seen many rough years during that time with the highlight year being 1998 when the Falcons went to Super Bowl XXXIII, but lost to the Denver Broncos. Last year they started strong off to a 6-2 start before fall apart in route to an 8-8 finish. This year with wiser Michael Vick at quaterback and Keith Brooking, Patrick Kerney, Rod Coleman, John Aberham and Deanglo Hall on defense along with the other players and owner Arthur Blank, the future continues to look bright.

I have been a Braves fan since 1991 the year they went from worst to first and have since won 14 straight division titles which is a sports record since no other other team in any sport has ever won 14 straight divison titles. Though the one downside and a big downside is only the one World Championship in 1995 when they defeated Cleveland in the World Series 4-2. The way the 2005 season ended was a huge disappointment, but I am beginning to become use to it. With money being tight for next year and several players going to free agency, it looks like the streak could be in danger.

I have been a fan of the Hornets since 1988 when they where still in Charlotte and even though they have moved to New Orleans I still view them as the Charlotte Hornets. This year the Hornets looked improved from last year but are still a ways from being a playoff contender. Since I have been a fan they have made the playoffs many times but unfortunately have yet to bring home a title. Since I used to live in Atlanta I do root for the Hawks except when they play the Hornets. As for the new Charlotte team the Charlotte Bobcats, I don't think I will be able to root for them just because they are not the Charlotte Hornets that I grew up with.

I have been a fan of the Los Angeles Kings since 1995 and believe it or not I started rooting for them because of a video game and it has just grown on me ever since. The Kings like the Hornets have made the playoffs a few times but have yet to win the cup in these 11 years. Only bad thing about cheering for a Los Angeles team is when you live in North Carolina and Florida like I do you dont get to see many of their games. Same as with the Hawks, I do root for the Thrashers when they are not playing the Kings.

I have been a fan of Mark Martin since 1988 and have been to many of the races here in Atlanta to root him on. I have met him once and got his autograph, it's not the only autograph I have of him though. He has come close several times to winning the points championship including last year when he finished 4th in the Chase for the Cup. Next year will be his last season in Nextel Cup. He has also excelled in other series other than Winston Cup like in the Bush series he holds the record for most career wins (47) and in the IROC series he also holds the record for career victories with 12. And he also holds the record 5 IROC Championships.
