Rating:Light R

Disclaimer:I don't own anything but the plot and some story elements. Joss owns all the Buffy characters and settings

Distribution: Anybody that'll take it. Leave my name on, though.

Feedback :I love getting mail. I don't even care if it's about my story. Tell me about your day, I won't mind.

Author's note: This story has already become much darker than I had originally planned. I'm not saying I'm not going to write anymore. I just wanted to address that in the first parts author's note I made it sound like a goofy story and now it's fairly dark. Knowing me, though, there will still be

plenty of goofy stuff. That's me, an unhealthy mix of brooding and zany.

Spoilers: C/X, O/X friendship, F/X friendship, and more of the supernatural incoherence you've come to know and love from your friendly neighborhood fan fic author.

Summary: Giles and the gang try to figure out what's wrong with Xander.

WALKING ON THE WILD SIDE

After Xander had come back with his soda, the others had convinced him to come with them to talk to Giles about his recent mood swing. They had gone to the Library and had Xander tell Giles about everything that happened. The teen did so with an amused grin.
"... So, that's what happened. I was just venting. Admittedly, it was a little extreme, but I don't vent often so it builds up," Xander finished in a matter of fact voice.
Giles sat silently for a few moment. He was afraid he knew what was happening. He wanted to make a call first.
"I believe I have heard references to behavior like Xander's before. I want to call a friend in England before I make any rash assumptions though." with this Giles headed into his office and closed the door behind him.
At that moment Faith came wandering in. She hopped up on the Library counter, swing her legs as she studied the rest of the rooms occupants. Everybody except Xander looked like someone had kicked their puppy. Xander looked like he hadn't had a day this good in weeks. There was something else strange about Xander, he seemed more confident or like he knew some great secret.
"Why all the long faces, slaymates? Did they cancel recess?" she asked hoping to make some of the others smile.
They all ignored her, per usual. Except Xander, who turned his charming shark smile her way. She was surprised at the feelings that arose when their eyes met: Fear, lust, affection, and a strange pride that he had noticed her.
"Ignore them, Faith. They think I'm going all Hyena boy or something again. I tried to explain that sometimes a body has to bust another body to prove a point, but they just don't get it. I figure a natural born bad ass such as yourself can dig that, am I right?" Xander asked a mischievous glint in his dark brown eyes.
"I hear that, my man. Sometimes its better to abuse their head rather than use your head," Faith answered, she was too distracted by the way it felt when he said her name to think about how out of character what he had said was.
"Exactly! See, I knew you'd understand. You're a very well-rounded girl. You see the value of both the Yin and the Yang."
"What can I say? I'm cool like that," Faith said, beginning to grow uneasy from the intensity of his eyes.
It was then Cordelia came in. She burst through the swinging doors of the Library and stormed up to Xander.

"Alright, Geekboy, what was up with that little show in the cafeteria? Everyone in the school thinks your some kind of serial killer now, and they're all bothering me to get stories about bodies in your attic now," she said all of this in one breath, and then stood there waiting for an answer.

PROBLEMS AND BIGGER ONES

Giles listened to the clicks and pops that accompany any international phone call. He hoped his old teacher would be able to help him. The phone started to ring. On the second buzz, the old, familiar voice of Dex MacNamara answered.
"Hello, Rupert, it's good to hear from you," came the satiny voice of the man that had taught Rupert Giles most of what he knew about magic.
"It's good to hear you too, Dex. I only wish it could be under better circumstances," Giles said, regretting that he had waited until there was trouble to call him.
"What is the matter, old friend?" Dex asked.
Giles told him everything Xander had said and done. He then told him of his suspicions, and waited for his reply.
"I fear you may be right. It certainly sounds like he may be a Rager. I'll come there as quickly as I can. That won't be until tomorrow, though. Try to control him until then. I know if anyone can it is my prize Pupil," Dex said this last with extra emphasis.
Giles was touched by the sentiment. His old Teacher's opinion of him still meant a lot to him.
"I'll do my best, sir," Giles said and hung up.
