This kind of art has a lot to do with nature, Robert Smithson is an artist of this movement he made lots of artworks inspired on nature but one of the most important was "Spiral Jetty" it is just a big spiral situated in Great Salt Lake of Utah and because he cares about nature all materials he used are degradable.

This artist liked to take a landscape and add things to represent an idea and then made the painting then remove the things and leave the place just like it was before. An example of this kind of art is "The Umbrellas, Japan - USA" here there are umbrellas in Japan and in California in Japan the umbrellas are close together to represent that there are lot of people and little space and there are blue to represent water that is very important to Japan. The umbrellas in California are more separated to indicate there is more space and they are yellow so it represents the dry land where it is situated.
