Welcome! G13 first formed in late 1999 just outside of Philadelphia Pa, in a small town called, H-town. The band is a product of a bunch of guys whos love for music is so intense that most of them can't help but playing all the time.It all starts with now 23-year-old singer/songwriter, Dave Migliore and his best friend and long time band mate, Rob Midgette. The duo had been through a lot together, countless gigs and more than a few failed bands. They were looking to start something that they could be excited about-a band who's main objective was to have a good time and play raw guitar-based music. They turned to another former band mate. This person was a phat bass player, his style baffled dave and rob-"it was from outer space or something". The bass players name was Slowmo, and he gave Rob and Dave endless possibilities as musicians. his playing was simply, the shit. By this time the wheels of G13 were starting to spin. Enter Johnny Taylor. John was a good friend of Slowmo's. they had pounded many St. Ides together. John was a new drummer, but he had so much soul that you could call him. . .God. G13 was an official band. The band played a few gigs together and wrote, and wrote. about a year passed, and they picked up a percussionist named Ryan M. Ry-seemed to pull the band together, with his crisp clear conga's, bongo's and the occasional djembe. together they recorded their first album, DR FUNK AND THE COCK-EYED EAGLE, and that brings us to the present time. G13 is a band because all of it's members love to write, perform and listen to music. Their influences range from singer/songwriters, to blues and rock guitarists, to folk musicians, to jazz musicians, to reggae guru's, to even poets like Emily Dickinson and Langhston Hughes. If your going to check-out g13 your in for a diverse musical expierience. You might catch the band playing a traditional folk number, and definetly a long acid-jazz improv, and then a heavy metal shredder before they reach their equilibrium of funk/folk music.Raw and unpredictable, G13 is as dank as their name. The band has a couple of cds available, and mp3s are free and 100% homegrown, so please, take you pick from the main page!! Burn em to cd, or whatever...were gonna try to keep changing them up, so keep checkin back!. Please sign up for the mailing list, order copies of the cds, or say hello by signing our guestbook located on our main page, and by all means please come out to the shows, because g13 prides themselves in playing live-where music was meant to be.
