Cant Have You
Chapter Twenty
That evening...
After our little talk, Nick and I spent time getting to know each other a bit better. We spent time talking about our lives, through the good and the bad and soon it was time for me to go make supper so Nick went to join the guys while me and the girls went to make them a good hot meal. We decided on spaghetti, bread and a fresh-tossed salad. While Tina, Amanda, and Jenni went to the store to buy some vegetables, fruits, ingredients and all the things we would need, Vanessa and I were left in the hot kitchen making fresh baked bread.
"OK Mel, do you think that's enough?"
"Almost. There's gonna be 10 people and you know how much the guys will tend to eat. So pop more into the oven just to be on the safe side."
"True. I'll be back in a few."
"While she went into the back, I boiled the angel hair til it was soft. Then I placed in under cold water so it wont stick and set it aside on a place. As I finished doing that, Vanessa came back with a plateful of bread. After cleaning up the kitchen a bit, we went to join the guys.
"Hey people!"
"Hey..where are the others?"
"They went to the store." I said putting my head on Nick's shoulder. I grabbed the remote from Howie and began flipping channels
"Hey! I was watching that."
"But Howie..I didn't like that..it had too much violence"
"Oh alright. Fine. Have it your way."
"Thank you!" I gave him a slobbery kiss. He blushed and turned away.
I settled on watching mtv cause it was a backstreet boys special.
"Aww..do we have to watch this?"
"You can always leave if you want."
"Fine. I'll be in my room if you need me."
"No Brain. Stay here. Please?" I gave him the puppy-dog look and of course he couldn't stand it so he stayed. We quietly watched the show. During a commercial break someone's cell phone went off.
"It's Brian. Talk to me."
"Hey Brian. It's Fatima."
"Hey Tima. What's up?"
"You know our backup dancer Tammi?"
"Yeah?"
"She couldn't take it so she quit."
"She what?"
"She quit. And since I'm gonna be out of town this weekend, I wont have time to find another replacement. So I need to know if you guys know anyone who wouldn be able to fill in. I already talked to Kevin and he said to leave it up to you cause he's busy this weekend also."
"OK. Hold on a second. let me tell the guys what just happened."
"Alright but hurry.'
"You guys know the replacement dancer Tammi? She quit. She couldn't take the all hard dancing and Fatima wants to know if we know anyone who can replace her since she wont have time to go out to find anyone since she'll be out of town."
"Did she try calling Kevin?"
"Yeah he said to leave it up to us cause he's also busy."
"Uh..OK..let me see.." The guys thought of people from the past but it turned out Fatima had already called them and they were already on tour with other groups and or singers.
"I know someone who would be able to help you guys out." I said speaking up.
"Who?"
"What about me?"
"You'll come back?"
"Sure. I'd be happy to help out. After all Nick and I did work out our problems. I don't see the harm in that." I looked at him and smiled. He returned the smile and gave me a little squeeze.
"Great. I'll see what Fatima has to say. Hey Fatima?"
"Did you guys think of anyone?"
"Mel said she's willing to come back to help out."
"Good. She already know most of the steps so if the girls could help her with the new ones she'll be back on track."
"Ok. I will."
"Bye Brian. Have a good time!"
"Yeah you too!"
After Brian hung up, I heard a car driveup. I ran out back to help them
"Did you guys get the stuff?"
"Yeah along with some junk. Hope you don't mind."
"Nah..it's ok. We can pig out while you help me learn the new dances for the guys."
"Why? You quit remember?"
"So? I'm back now!"
"Yes! I told you it would work out."
"C'mon..Let's bring this stuff inside." As we opened the trunk the guys came out and each grabbed a couple of bags. Nick took the ones I was holding. I gave him a kiss and followed him inside.
"What are we having for dinner? Junk food?"
"Haha..very funny."
"We're have spaghetti."
"My fave!"
"Yeah we know Nick."
"OK now everyone who isn't a female out."
"OK OK we get the picture. You don't have to be so mean about it."
"OUT!"
"Mel..I didn't know you could be like that. You're usually nice and quiet!"
"Yeah I know. Haha"
"Why didn't u let them help?"
"Cause we be in here for an hour just to clean up."
"Yeah..That's true. I've seen them in action before and it's not nice."
"Ok. enough talking. I'll make the sauce and you guys could make the salad and set the table."
"Sure. Just show us where the plates and everything are and we'll be out of your hair."
"They're over there. in that top cabinet."
I went to work on the sauce as they set the table. Tina went to get the boombox and came back playing the Millennnium cd. "Larger than life" blasted through the cd player. I smiled and continue with the recipe. By the time I finished "Its gotta be you" was wrapping up. I walked over to the sink and started cleaning up my mess. I was halfway through doing that when I felt someone's arms around me. I looked up and there was Nick singing "I need you" into my ear. "Open up your heart to me. And say what's on your mind. I know that we have been through so much pain. But I still need you in my life this time. And I need you tonight. I need you right now. I know deep in my heart it doesn't matter if it's wrong or right." As he finished I turned and wrapped my arms around him tears glistening in my eyes. "That was beautiful. Thank you. You really made my day and I'm thankful for that. Always remember that I love you no matter what happens." I whispered in his ear. "I love you too." I smiled and wiped my tears.
"Go clean yourself up..I'll get it from here."
"Thanks Nick. I'll see you in a little awhile." he kissed my cheek and I went upstairs to clean up.
