Cant Have You
Chapter Nineteen
Nick and I returned around 1:30 and found the house extremely quiet. I placed and food on the table and hung my jacket up. As I was about to call the others down to eat Nick called out my name.
"Mel?"
"What?"
"We gotta talk."
"About what?"
"Us."
"Yeah? What about us?" I asked sitting on one of the stools. I motioned for him to sit next to me.
"I have something to tell you. I never got the chance to tell you about it."
"Ok so tell me now."
"You know how you said I only loved you because of all the time we spent together?"
"Nick, I really don't want to talk about this right now."
"Please just hear me out ok?"
I nodded and said "Yeah I remember saying that to you."
"It's not true and I can prove it this time. I didn't develop these feelings for you because of all the time I spent with you."
"But..." I began.
"No buts..The first time I saw you I felt a strong feeling towards you. I knew you were going to be a part of my life. I just didn't know when. As we got to know each other better through rehearsals, my feelings for you grew stronger. When I broke up with Mandy, you were there for me. So when you went to the hospital I knew I had to tell you before I lose you. And because I confessed my feelings I ended up losing you. I pushed you further away with this love and it was tearing me apart to see you go. When you left me, I couldn't believe it. I was devastated. I didn't think I'd see you again. Now that I'm here I might as well tell you because I'm not going to lose you again. I hope you understand the fact that I DO love you and it isn't just infatuation. I love you and I want you to be in my life."
"Nick...I...Um..don't know what to say. First off before I say anything else I want to apoligize for not listeninmg to your reasons. I didn't want to get hurt again. Knowing that you broke up with her 2 days before you told me what you felt just hurt me because I love you and I couldn't bear to know one day that you didn't really love me. I'm sorry about the pain and the misery i've put you through. Geez, how could I have been so stupid? Why couldn't I just have listened to you in the first place?? Then we could've moved on with our lives and I wouldn't be sitting here crying and moping about it."
"Stop Mel. It's ok. I forgive you." I smiled and threw my arms around his neck. A few drops of tears glided down my cheek and onto his shirt. A few minutes later, I turned my head and looked up at him. "Why didn't you come after me when I left?"
"You told us not too because it wasn't going to help. All I felt was that I lost you and that was that. I'm glad tina came up with this plan to come visit you otherwise I'd be really miserable right now."
"God, do you know how happy I'm feeling right now?"
"Probably just as happy as I am to know that you're mines and only mines. Now we can forget what happened in the past and start over. Fresh. We can be happy together now."
"I'd like that." I smiled and gave him a kiss.

"Aww don't they look cute together?" Tina asked in a low voice.
"Guess that kiss right there means they've worked out their problems. Maybe Mel will come dance for you guys again."
"Hopefully"
"Guys?"
"What AJ?"
"Can we eat now?"
Tina giggled and knocked on the side of the doorway. "Know knock guys. Sorry to interrupt but we're kinda hungry."
"Oops..sorry...Nick and I got caught up working things out and I forgot about the rest of the house."
"Well thanks alot!"
"Sure no prob."
Everyone grabbed a meal and went into the den or their rooms to eat and watch movies. After everyone left, Nick pulled me close to him and gave me a warm hug. He was about tp say something to me when I slienced him with a kiss. After awhile, I pulled away and said, "Sorry about for the pain and misery Nick. If only we said something earlier."
"But we never got the chance. That's in the past. Let's forget it and move on with our lives."
"Ok..Let's eat.."I said giggling. I moved into the seat next to his and started muching on fries.
"You know Nick, I was talking to my mom about you and me last night. She made me realize that you were and important part of my life and I couldn't lose you."
"Really?"
"Yeah and you know what she told me?"
"What?"
"I told her I couldn't lose you too and--"
"Lose me too?"
"Yeah my dad past away when I was young because of cancer."
"Oh. I'm sorry babe."
"Thanks. Anyways i told her I couldn't lose you too and she said I already have."
"How?"
"When I thought about it she was right. I pushed your love away and I left you and the others. i let you guys down and was walking away from my troubles. Because I was walking away I couldn't turn back and be with you again."
"It's a good thing I came back to you then huh?"
"Yeah it is. I'm glad you came back."
